Wouldn't stream and wanted me to sign up to download?
Is there another way to get it?

Very nice and relaxing piece. I was put into a nice mood immediately.

I will now TRUNDLE about for the rest of the day rather than LUMBER, thank you.

Here's something I'd like to suggest. The music begins to fade at 2:00 and I though the song was over, perfect arrangement. Then it kicked back in and it seemed to me it was a repetition of themes developed in the first half. I think if you tried to create more variation from the first half you'd get more out of this piece.

Hi Khomp,
I hate to agree with you man but, you are correct...it is a simple melody..perhaps different instruments and a tempo change would help..........

Thanks for listening man,
Joe

Hi Joro,
Nice tune,I love the interplay of synths and acoustic, very sweet.
Has a very sweeping feel to it,nice composition.

I would say this is as far from Muzak as you can get!
Sounds more like early acoustic Kansas stuff.
You know, like Dust in the Wind.

Very cool,
Pete

Joro, my comments are all mix related. I do like the tune.

It seems to me that this recording is missing dynamics. Everything is competing for the spotlight.

Agree with the earlier comments regarding the strings being a bit harsh.

I was once a BIG DI acoustic fan. I liked the idea of not having to worry about too much background noise. But, this board has changed me of that completely. I can relate to "the kids sleeping" - thing. But now I just wait for the right moment and record with mics. I get everything set up ahead of time. As soon as the kids go outside, I get as much done as I can.

Having said that, I have heard of small few that actually recorded an acoustic direct with good results. So, I won't rule it completely. In the case of your song, I'd use mics. On your recording, it sound like I was hearing the inside of the guitar.

I got the impression on the thread that you re-recorded this song and named it "Monday Night". Am I wrong? I couldn't find it.

Hey Pete,
glad you dug the muzak....ummm...................errr............the music man .....

I was heavily into Kansas when I was but a wee lad....
They Rock!
Thanks man...

BP.....hmmmmmmmm....
The recording you should have heard was the second one...I deleted the direct tracks.....I used a Rode NT1 for the guits....
funny....they don't sound direct to me........ya know?
and i compensated for the fighting orchestration of the synths on the second recording.....

Are you sure that you did not download the earlier version??

it's cool either way man......
I know I need to improve....
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment..
I appreciate it very much.

Take it easy man,
Joe

Sounds like an Irish spring morning walk:D Very nice piece I read about the issues stated above but the guitar and everythibg else sounds good to me:D

Peace
Bill

Hey Joe!No, I'm not referring to my all time favorite lefthanded smoker!

Real nice composition! I like the time changes and rubato segues bigtime! Lots of feel and emotion!

If this were a 'Ralph' tune done on the sequencer, I'd spot check the quantize ( timing ) on a few bars.

Mixwise & EQ wise , you have C.E.P. in your arsenal man!!!!!!You have the tool to warm this sucker up in a big way!

If you want to hire someone for the string parts, as stated in your PM to me, for purely acoustical reasons.......cool. But If you've got the parts scored, I don't think it necessary, if you don't mind a U-20 with killers strings patches, that I could lay down for you within an hour over at your place when we get together!

Once again, NICE comp & feel!

Now that's embarassing. Sure enough, I have the latest version with the MIC'd acoustic. I've got to go back to my old philosophy of posting before I read everyone else's comments. They unduly influence my ears.

So, after a subsequent listen .....

The acoustic does sound a bit muffled/boomy. When mic-recording acoustics, I've always had to cut a lot of the bottom out. I've been happiest when I do this while I'm tracking, although a lot of people would say that's a "no-no".

Also, I still think this song needs some more dynamics. There's no breathing room. Are you compressing everything?

Take it all with a grain of salt - given the fact I can't tell the difference between an acoustic that is mic'd and one recorded direct. DOH !!

Mix aside. I like the song. Especially at 1:03 when the production really picks up.

BPOCO.

Hi Ralph,
Thanks for checking it out man......
and sure.....sounds like a plan to me...
whenever you can make it man...
Thanks man..

BP...that's cool man....
I am gonna cut out some of the low end of the guit on the re-mix
Thanks for stoppin' by again...I appreciate it man,

Take it easy fellas,
Joe

Nice tune and arrangement Joro. My biggest complaint would be the lack of space and air to the mix. I generally like a more dry mix but some more reverb carefully applied might give it a little more life so it doesn't sound so canned.
