Hey guys, this is my 2nd 'real' attempt at mixing. I posted a tune about a month ago, and was helped tremendously with the mix. This is a different song, but the same band.

Everything sounds ok to my ears, except the cymbals. The problem probably lies with the initial mic placement, but if you guys could give some suggstions for making them sound better it would be greatly appreciated. They just sound kind of ear-piercing at high volumes.

Thanks in advance, and feel please hack it up, trash, and comment all you like

Daryl

I gave it a listen!

Over the system at work (computer speakers) I did not notice anything funny with the cymbals. Perhaps over bigger speakers there might be a harsh edge to them, but not on what I listened.
How did you track the drums? Are they spilt up where you could eq or compress the cymbals a little to take the "bark" out of them?

I don't hear a cymbal problem either. The problem I have is the vocal seems to sit above the mix - maybe it needs more reverb. I also hear very slight but potential timing issues in the drum track. Could be my imagination but with the drums so prominent, they need to be right on.

Thanks for the replys guys. I noticed the vocals didn't fit too good, when I gave it a listen in my car this morning. Thanks for pointing it out. ;)

I don't know about the cymbals, maybe it is just me from hearing the tune a million times.

If anyone else can hear an ear-piercing cymbal sound at high volumes, let me know so I can determine whether I have gone loco or not.

Thanks guys,
Daryl
