Any suggestions on material for stripping around doors besides the available products at Home depot?

The stuff they sell at HD is pretty limited. I just got some Therma Tru doors and was surprised at the weatherstripping they come with. A pretty tight fit, so I ended up having my builder order another few sets for the studio doors.

If your door trim has a weatherstriping slot around the perimter ( see photo- the slot is about a saw blade wide and 1/2" deep) perhaps you can use them. I used a multiple sweep on the bottom of the door. It has 4 sweeps in one for a good seal.

Here's the weatherstripping profile. the fins on the right grip to hold it in the slot.

and here's a photo of the weatherstripping slot in the trim.

It's probably basic carpentry stuff, but I'd always used the stick on stuff at HD and never seen how the real stuff goes in.

I just finished my home studio and I'm really impressed w/ the steel door and sound seals I've used in both rooms.

I've got rubber seals across the top and both sides of the door, a threshold w/ rubber stop and automatic door jamb. The manufacture is Zero International. You can find great info about sound materials here: http://www.zerointernational.com/

All of these products were recommended to me by a local commercial door company.

scuppari,
Mind sharing the cost of the zero seals? I'm in the UK so will probably pay on the pound what you guys pay on the dollar...

Cheers
