I used to use them in the computer business because the 30GB and 40Gb 7200 rpm drives (The vs2000 uses a 40gb 7200 rpm) were anywhere from $10 to $15 cheaper, which REALLY adds up when you buy 10 or 15 at a time.
BUT, when they all come crashing down, you wish you would have spent the extra $10 to $15. I had to replace ALL the Maxtors out of ALL computers in x3 Internet Cafe's. That was 24 computers !
So... I switched to Western Digital 40Gb with 7200 rpm. As a nice added bonus, the have 8MB onboard cache, where I think the Maxtor's only had about 2MB.
So far, never had one of those Western Digital's go bad yet.
In 1999 to 2001, Fujitsu had such a problem with there hard drives, that with almost no questions asked, if you mailed them the drive, they would mail you a cheque for $90. I was gathering up Fujitsu drives from wherever I could and mailing them 5 at a time !!
