Stupid question- monitoring in Cubase

Still Learning.......
I've recently aquired (cheaply) a gadget labs 8/24 with Cubase 32 (? Does that make sense?) thrown in by the guy selling it.
This is a bit of an upgrade for me from running Cubasis and a soundblaster Audigy!
I've installed everything and it all seems fine, but I would like to use the gadgetlabs 8-ins, but still use the Audigys headphone socket on the live drive as this would be real useful for me when mixing. I've gone to the master window output bit and it only shows the 8/24 outputs in pairs, ie, wave 8/24 1+2, wave 8/24 3+4. I belive this is because the 8/24 is my ASIO device.
Is there a way to use the Audigy headphone socket?
Do I need to change ASIO devices after recording to the Audigy? Or is there another way?
If I have to use the 8/24 outputs, will I need a mixer to use headphones?
I'm really stuck on this and have never used Cubase (only Cubasis).
Please help!!!!!!

I can't get any noise out of cubase now.
I've tried the master window outputs and the audio setup window. It only works if I use the soundblaster as my ASIO device, but then I can't use the 8/24.
It's probably something really stupid and easy, but I can't see it.
Please help!
Any suggestions. Anything. Please.

You can only monitor out of one card in Cubase........

I have the same problem with my Mixtreme and Audigy. I wanted to use my Mixtreme for inputs and the Audigy for monitoring. I guess you can only use one soundcard at a time in cubase, no matter if your using one for ins and one for outs. To fix this problem I just took one of the line outs of my Tascam TMD1000 (which is hooked up to the mixtreme), and ran it into the line in of the Audigy. Works just fine. No Latency what so ever. :) Maybe something like that would be possible with your gadgetlabs. Goodluck.

I've got Cubase to recognise both the soundcards as recording AND playback devices at the same time now. I had to go to the ASIO multimedia drivers in the start up menu and configure them as a custom, turning all inputs and outputs on. The I went to audio > setup and selected ASIO multimedia drivers as my ASIO device. Give it a go soundprizm.
Great!
I've tested a mcrophone on the sb and it records fine. I tried the 8/24 and I was getting nothing recorded. I thought I might need to use a pre as all I was doing was plugging the mic straight into it. But even with a pre it wouldn't work. I'm not getting anything recorded even though it is set up so that the channel the mic's in is the same as the channel as the one Cubase is recording.

Any ideas?

On the Wave 8/24 configuration window I can have them as -10 db (home studio) or +4dbv (pro studio). What does this mean and which should I use for plugging mics straight into the breakout box?

Cheers.

It might help if I plug hte power lead in.........

Okay, same set up as above, but when I record not only do I get a terrible echo (latency) through my headphones. Also (more annoyingly), Cubase only records the first 2 seconds of the track very quietly if I'm lucky.
Any ideas?
Blue bear particularly............
