Stupid question about voice over

What is the definition of voice over?

I have heard many things about it that I have made educated assumptions but I really haven't had to use my brain in a long time... ever since my college years.
 
Voice-over -- dialog, speaking bits, phrases, any speaking-related audio

Think commercials, adverts, jingles, announcements.... etc....

I do voice overs for industrial films, exhibits, information centers and World's Fairs.

No, not at the moment. Unless some rapping is considerred as voice-overs. What I mean by that is the behind the scenes rapping....anyways.... I do alot of reading, pretty much daily, in HRBBS. Knowledge is Power!!

This weekend, I will be recordings breaks in between songs such as conversations and maybe like an interview type of recording like most rap/hip hop CDs have.

I guess if I wanted to do voice-overs I could use my SM7b, right?
Wasn't that the original intent of the Shure Sm7b, for radio broadcasting?
