Studio Starting to Look Like Something

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. We've really been busy in the studio in the evenings. Electrical has been run, interior framing is about 90% and most of the insulation is up. Framing should be finished tomorrow. Damn I'm tired of buying lumber $$. Insulation should be finished tomorrow also and RC placed on the interior walls. We might even get to do a little sheetrock tomorrow.

The picture shows my son sitting on top of the vocal booth. Since the picture was taken he has installed a plywood floor over the booth, down the hallway and over the bathroom. This will be used for storage like boxes of winter/summer etc clothes that I know will try to migrate from the spare bedroom to the studio.

Your not gonna believe what I caught my crazy ass dog doing. I wish I had my camera then. We were all standing in the live room yaking when I heard something strange coming from the control room. We all went to the control room window opening to see what the commotion was about. Over in the corner where we stacked the insulation ends and pieces what do we see? My crazy ass, neutered dog humping on a big piece of R13 And yes, the bare side was facing up!!! What the hell is wrong with this dog??? Damn I wish I had a picture. I guess he'll remember that one for a while.

The dog still gets to come in but I watch him around the insulation. He seems to get a gleam in his eye everytime he goes near it. Could this be puppy love????

Most of the sheetrock is up in the live room. It went from dead to really live again but I expected that. The real fun will start when it's time to tune the room. It's kinda funny though how the perception of room size changes at each step. The sheetrock makes it seem smaller now. I'm sure it'll shrink again when the suspended ceiling goes in even though it'll only be about 18" lower than it is now.

Yeah Michael I wish you were here too. You can't have too many people when building something like this. Of course these guys are working for home cooked meals (my wife is a great cook), beer and of course permanent free recording sessions. One word of advice when you build yours. Never look away when walking of scaffolding. One of the guys was hangin sheetrock on the other side of the room while I was on the scaffolding putting up more resilient channel. The sheetrock started to fall back on him (10' tall sheets) and he yelled for help. I was walking across the scaffolding and turned to look his way when I "stepped" between the walk boards. I guess I was lucky the gap between the aluminum walkboards was only about one foot. I landed on one knee which kept me from falling between the boards. The whole thing was actually funny but I'm sure it won't be funny in the morning. Anyhow, all is well and the studio is progressing at a somewhat slow but steady pace.

Gotta watch those scaffolds...

they're tricky bastards! I fell backwards off of one this summer while re-siding my house. Landed flat on my back and broke my shoulder blade. Of course, this had to happen a week BEFORE I was supposed to leave for a Canadian fishing vacation and not a week after I got back! Be careful up there DD!! You ain't as young as you used to be. (I know I ain't and my youngest youngun isn't anywhere NEAR as big as yours in the picture!)

If you want to keep your dog off the insulation throw one of those shrimp boil bags on the spot he likes to love. If he goes over there and gets frisky with that on there you'll really see some entertainment.
