That's because you don't know me very well. My wife doesn't even like music, but she'd take our piano over me if it was a choice...and my kids would actually use me as a human shield to protect their guitars.

You know how most people are a lot more decent in person than on the internet? Yeah, I'm the exact opposite.

And I'll let you in on another little secret about me...My wife is a total whore. Should you ever find yourself attending "Jamfest" in Kentucky, you'll probably find out for yourself...just like every other guy who has shown up has discovered.

Here's the running joke. What's the difference between jam and jelly? You can't jelly your penis up chris' wife.

Actually man, being that one of my best friends is from Kentucky (and I am sure he did not sleep with your girl) I have gathered my own little opinion about you and your kind..... Yer all fucking honest, no bullshit, dickheaded assholes, who are not afraid to step on a dick to get to some pussy. I don't know you enough to say I like ya yet, but I am giving you the benefit of a doubt. So far, yer cool to me. :)

if your studios in your house, photo and keep documents in a lock box and pay your damn insurance;)
Cheers
Dan

Personally as long as the cats are okay the rest is insured, it's just stuff. As for the price of monitoring, my Dad taught me something really useful years ago. A single time cost is not important, it's ongoing costs that really add up. About 20 years ago he paid $1200 CDN for his 16 zone alarm, now it took a team of 5 guys a day to put it in. He also got a fixed rate for monitoring, from the best company in his city, 100 dollars a year. Let's add it up, 1200 once, plus 100 per year for 20 years, 3200 total. Now let's say, as we did (my ex and I) you get a free system, however monitoring is 40 bucks a month, 480 per year. Over 20 years total cost: 9600 dollars.

Personally I think I'm ok. I have a 170lb solid muscle great dane :D

Fairly old thread you dug up here, but certainly an interesting topic. I live with my gear. Even sleep with it. =P It's all in the same room! XD But I agree with the insurance stuff. All my gear is insured, Even if I need to take instruments out of the house or anything. Though I've not played live since the beginning of the year now! The doors of the house both have 11-point locks on them. It'd be easier to break a window, which would wake half the house up instantly. Because there's usually one person in the house at least, there aren't ever many chances to wait til the house is free either. Not to mention the unpredictability of time anyone may be gone for. If they do manage to get in, there are always the various bladed weapons to scare them off with. =D

does the outbuilding have any windows? check the strength of the door and locks too. it might be worth investing in some cctv, although maybe best to not put overt cameras outside - might be sending a message that there are valuables in the outbuilding

also, ensure you back up all your work at least to a NAS that you keep in your house or some cloud service. equipment can be bought with insurance money. mixes are irreplaceable.
