There! I said it for all of you SP lovers. Their stuff sounds like cheap harsh chinese shit. And the stuff is built with same quality as a tin can. Open your ears - take a class - read a book - do something to educate yourself to what quality sounds like and start looking at other gear.

Hey Don, nice to see you back. It's been awhile. And I see you're posting and editing right away, just like before.

Just curious, what do you consider comprable in the price range. I've owned it and used it, the C1 isn't a terrible mic by any means, it's one of the nicer $200 new w/ accessories mics that money can buy.

All of the Chinese mics I've used are harsh and brittle. But you will find that there is no shortage of sales people here and elsewhere hyping it. Same tactics you see in the used car business.

Until consumers wake up and demand better quality materials, components and workmanship, they will continue to support the ChiCom industry and junk they produce.

Oh Jeez, here we go again...
"Studio Projects sucks!!"
"Studio Projects sounds just as good as mics costing 3X (...5X, 10X) as much!!"

"Black!!"

"White!!"

How about a little middle ground, people?
SP mics are neither the best cheap mics available, nor useless crap.

They are some of the better low-endish LDC mics on the market. I personally think you can do a little better for the same money, but that's just one guy's opinion. I also happen to think you can do a lot worse. I own a couple of them, as well as some of their competitors' mics. I also have a fairly large collection of Neumann, Gefell, Brauner, Soundelux, AKG, Sennheiser, Schoeps, DPA, Earthworks, Royer, AEA and a number of other mid to high end mics.

On any given day, a $300 mic may beat a $5,000 on a particular voice/instrument. They're just tools. If you can't get a good, useable sound from a Studio Projects mic, the problem is not the mic (in 99% of cases). Getting a phenomenal, magical sound is a different kettle of fish entirely - and low budget mics USUALLY don't belong in that kettle.

Goddamn, people, can't you recognize a troll????????????

God...recordingpro needs a rest!

Hey Studiomasturbater, did you get the ass smell off of that sm57 after you used it for dildo - cuz I'm possitive you don't know how to use it for anything else you little coward.

Let's start with the casing and grill of a SP mic - I'm ignoring the sound for now - it's built like a flimsy stamped out toy. Even Rode does a better job that this.

The only thing good about SP is that Alan Hyatt has always openly said is stuff was cheap chinese instead of trying to hide it's place of origin.

For the right amount of money you can get an endorssee to say anything about a given product. But you won't find many serious rooms or engrs reaching for a Chinese mic. Why the hell would I want to use a SP, MXL, Samson, Behringer, if I can use a Schoeps, Gefell, Soundelux? Go figure.

Consider conducting a survey on gearslutz.com and asking the engrs that post there if they would use the cheap line of mics you're endorsing. I seriously doubt it.

The SPs seem to be better made than most of the other Chinese line of mics I've seen, but they're still harsh and brittle sounding on many applications. As far as I know the Rodes isn't made in China.

Nothing like a Sunday Troll!

That's right free gear, cocaine and hookers will get people writing great reviews about your stuff.

Heck it used to be a review in certain mags meant something - now it's all gone to tripe.

"recording pro" my ass. A professional does not act like a jackass constantly. A professional does not rule out an ENTIRE line of mics, and ANY professional knows that there are NO absolutes, that everything is subjective, and that any one who claims the opposite probably doesnt know fuckall. go away,
fordvan/boingoman/etc

Most reviews are based on product advertisements.

Big Ray - I'm surprised to see you here endorsing the Chinese line of mics. At least I can say I tried them and have no use for them.

Sure they do - all you have to do is use them and find out what utter shite they are. I own 2 of them and they suck asssssss - make for great door stops though.

Seik Heil you China loving Nazi

it is SIEG you fucking idiot. if they suck, then why do you own two, you fuckwit?
