That's class. I guess you have a pet, Harvey.
Yea he does, and you better leave my master alone or I'll bite you... lol. :D

This thread just went from interesting to hostile to just plain stupid.

What the hell?

No shit?

The Hell you say!

What the fuck?

Eh?

Oh, ok...now I get it.

The point is, not many things technological are 100% "Made in the USA". For instance, if you believe you're buying American with a Dell, IBM, HP, Gateway computer, know that almost none of the internal components are made in America.

"Made in America" is a bogus slogan in the current world economy.

If it was bougus, which it's not, but if was, why do you think it's so important to Alan to have his E series mic's labled as MADE IS USA?

Jeez, djl. Sometimes I just think you want to be confrontational.

I was saying almost nothin is "made in the USA" anymore. The world economy is so interconnected. What the hell does it mean anyway, Made in the USA? Even if you find something that's 100% american made, it doesn't mean diddly.

Drop it, shit.

This sourcing components from o/seas to be used to make a product in the US or Aust., etc is happening in so many different industries, that it isn't worth raising a sweat over. It is a fact of life in the manufacturing industries. Alan should have "done a Rode" and kept quiet about it, at least then he wouldn't have people trying to crucify him.

I think that's why manufactures are getting away with it... anyway, have a good day and don't take any wooden nickels. lol.

Hey Brent, what the fuck do you want... spit it out?

That's some pretty tough typing there, Chief. Is this where I'm supposed to say that "vitriol obfuscates?"
I guess what I want is to make a quick clarification here: The E-Series mic project is my conception. It's something I work on when I'm driving the 405 up to Stephen's lab. I work on various elements of it at my bench when I have the time and it's what I'm working on in my head when my wife sometimes has to wave her hand in front of my face and say, "hellooo?" E-Series mics are being designed through knowledge I've accumulated over the years.
This is something I work on alone at this point and since I'm so busy with the Stephen Paul Project, family, bills, house restoration, etc, it's something to crunch when I have time to clear my head and think deeply.
Ok, now imagine the subject of such thinking splashed around on a BBS by somebody you've never met who is trying to make the whole concept appear sinister and ugly. Weird huh?
What really made me say, "what the hell?" though, DJL, was that you went from this tough-talking Columbo doppleganger to grovelling sycophant when Harvey weighed in. It made me think of some of the "too hippy for thou" people at Dead shows that would get down on their knees and give prayers of thanks after every song... Just a bit too reverent for my taste, I guess. Like Garcia, Harvey's a righteous bearded dude, but when you come down to it, they's just old guitar players. Well one still is, anyway. Anyway, I could be wrong, but I don't think the guy wants worshippers.
Having you disengage in order to come over and get in my face makes it all the more strange.
Does that answer your question?

Sincerely,
Brent Casey

Brent, yea that answers one of my questions... however, I believe Harvey appreciates the respect I've given him by honnoring his request. Oh, and I think my neighbor Mickey will get a bang out of your dead comment... thanks. lol.

hmm...

When I first heard about SP mics about a year ago, I was very skeptical and had a hard time finding people who would say good things about them. Then I decided to join HR.com and I find this whole legion of people who really seem to like the mics, this was odd to me.

Up 'till now, I've been a Rode LD user. I own an NT-1 and 2 NT-1000's and was considering purchasing a pair of the NT-5's to replace my AKG C1000S's. Then I discover the SP C4. Hmm, those are an awful lot of really desireable features for a similar price that the NT5's just don't have... Naw, but they're SP's. But people here really seem to love their stuff...

Then, low and behold, I figure out that the who's who of SP hangs out and posts regularly on this board. I find out that the designers actually interact with their target market for ideas. I find out that the owner of the company uses this place as a sounding board for products. OMG! If only I had access to these people at Roland, Korg, Fender, and Gibson, the world would be a better place!

It was at this point that I realized that a group of people this commited to making their customers happy must be putting out a good product. I am very thankful to have this type of interaction with the folks at SP, and I think it's something that a lot of folks around here take for granted.

As a good young American from a long line of Detroit auto workers, i grew up hating things from overseas. I'm now an economics senior in college and realize why we build things in other places. If the quality is top notch, who cares if it was built here or on Mars? Alan, Brent, and the rest have demonstrated to us all that they have taken the steps to offer us a high quality product at a reduced price.

I'm now an SP believer after being on these boards and after demoing a set of C4's vs my Oktava MK012's and the Rode NT5's. I'll keep my Oktava's, but really really really want a set of C4's, but I have to wait till I pay off some other gear before I can purchase them. I will also hopefully be able to rid myself of my harsh NT-1 in favor of a C1 or C3 soon as well. Thanks for helping to put good sound within a price range that the rest of us can afford.

That's also one of the reasons why so many of the messages posted on this BBS are plugs for SP... heck, it seems that almost every thread here gets turned into an advertisement for SP.

Not by me, so relax already.
