Studio Projects C1

Does anyone out there have a studio projects C1? I have a SP B1 that I like but I need a better vocal mic I've read the reviews on the C1 but can anyone back them up? Thanks in advance. :) :rolleyes: :eek: :o :D Kevin Scott
 
I have the spc1 and it is an excellent vocal mic. What are you looking to record?
 
I've got a C1 and a B1. Save your money for a better mic - the highs suck - pretty much unusable on female singers and only fair on a few males

Yeah, recording through Behringer gear really helps.......

What's wrong with the highs? Harsh?
 
I have one, and am very pleased with it. Works good on my own vocals, much nicer than the dynamics which I used before I got the C1. While I am in no way qualified to tell you how it compares to more expensive mics, I can tell you that I think it was an excellent value - I get very clean accurate recordings for what seemed like a great price.

By the way, I also have a pair of C3's and a pair of VTB-1's. I like quality, but am constrained by budget, and have come to believe in the value provided by the Studio Projects gear.
 
I get a lot of good feeling about this mic.As anyone can tell you vocals are the hardest thing to re :o ;) :rolleyes: :cool: :) :p :D :eek: cord.

Vocals are easy to record with decent rig- it's finding a singer worth recording that gets tough.

That will give you a better idea of it's capacity!
 
I have both the sp B1 and C1. I think the C1 is a step up for voxs. The highs can be a bit much sometimes. I do a lot of hip-hop & r&B (if i can generalize.) and it sounds good to my ears(my recording space is not the best so its nice the mic still sounds okay with a wack room). I am happy with it considering I only paid 200 bucks(if it were more i would still be happy with it). I have never used it on any other sources except vocals so i dont know how well it works as the all-around mic. I have had a few people(rappers_ with just odd voices) sound not so good on it. hard to explain that but simply it just sounded cheap. most cases it sounds much more "expensive". Sometimes i need a little more warth in a vocal than the C1 seems to give me but there is always a problem with something sometime.
 
Opinions seem to vary here, but I've used the C1 on a few different male vocalists with great results.

I think it is definitely worth the price. I have a good room with traps and all, and it doesn't seem too bright for male vocals at all.

As I noted in another thread, I thought that your samples were well done, but that it illistrated how bad a C1 sounds on acoustic guitar. It really illistrates what's wrong with the highs on a C1...... very brittle. But I think they sound OK on the right vocal, one that needs that upper mid hump.

Hmmm, doesn't seem that way on these speakers here at work, maybe it's the stream?

If anything, the delay and reverb are creating that effect. His vox went in sper clean. Ultimately, that's EXACTLY the way the client wanted his vocal track.

Anyone else hear it the way Mr. Recordingpro hears it?

Could be. Mp3 can srew stuff up pretty bad. What did you mix it on? I'm listening to it on some Mackie 824's and it's not good.

Ultimately, that's EXACTLY the way the client wanted his vocal track.

Ultimately that's all that counts - that and the check clearing the bank ;)

Studio Projects is about to release new versions of the B and C Series mics. So you might want to wait a few months and check them out if you are interested in the SP C Series mics.

By all means, let us know when you happen to find a singer worthwhile (in your mind) to record with your anything other than SP mics and give us something to listen to with your personally owned high end mics and rented studio space.

So, exactly who is it that have you recorded and produced?
