The first thing I check when we get an eggbeater in is how well it works in the mix. The resulting pancakes should be relatively flat. I usually do a test pancake with it panned in the center. If it's too hot, I back it off a bit.

Beautiful, just beautiful!

Well, you’d also have to factor in how long it took the little old lady to figure out it wasn’t an egg beater and return it to the sender. I live in Knoxville too and you know, these little old ladies around here, once they get an egg beater that looks like a B1, they hates to give it back!
Humm, maybe that's part of the problem too... all you little old ladies in Knoxville are using your B1's as egg beaters, and PMI's service dept is eating too may pancakes... and I don't want to know what all you ladies are really using your electric toothbrushes for. :D

And if the sender can't get the mailing address correct there is a good chance that there was nothing wrong with the mic in the first place other than a user error. ;)

All in all, that's one of my favourite posts by you ;) :D :D

In light of this thread... if I was Brent, when I got Rex Hargrove's B1... I'd just send Rex back a new B1 and tell him there was nothing wrong with it... that way, skeelsd would tell us the same. However skeelsd, if Studio Projects/PMI does tell Rex what the problem was I'd sure like to know what it was? Thanks

If "I" were Brent, I'd send Rex back an eggbeater with pancake mix on it......and I'd send the new B1 directly to skeelsd.

But that's just me. And I'm warped.

Egg Beater Mics

You mean the B1 isn't an egg beater? Uhhh... disregard my previous posts. The B1 worked fine. User error...stupid technology. Ummm...bacon

How many Studio Projects B1's does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

Only one, but it'll take DJL months to find one that does it properly

How much did they give you?

How much pancake mix can a 100-watt light bulb burn off of a 797 Audio/Studio Projects B1?

I thought he said it quit in the middle of a 3-egg souffle...but I could be wrong...it might have been an omlette.

I DO have a question about the B1 owner's manual, though...an I hope Alan's lurking in this thread so he (or Brent) can answer it...

I understand the part about "whipping the whites into a froth" in the Baked Alaska recipe...but do you do that with phantom power ON or OFF?

Oops, user error. I had the phantom power off when I immersed it in the egg batter. Turned it on and pow, crapped out. I realize now (thanks to this forum) you are supposed to have the phantom power on first...then stir. Sorry for the all the trouble.

Mic cable

What'd you expect from a newbie? FWIW, the mic cable doesn't tolerate gasoline very well.

skeelsd you foolish newbie! were you trying to make the mic crap out? i bet the mic was perfectly fine til you broke it with your 2nd-rate cookery, you know it's the rest of us who have to absorb the cost of customer care that people like you run up?;)

Six hours and fried. Quit in the middle of a song, no surge, spike, nothing.

We used it for a rehearsal and I thought it performed to expectations until it crapped out.

EDIT: Added another quote.

new mic, $50.00 gift certificate to Radio Shack, free use of Napster for 1 year and a lifetime supply of pancake mix @ www.auntjemima.com. Apparently pancake mix corrupted the diaphragm after I inadvertantly immersed it in egg white power off...not power on.
