Studio Monitors for a LARGE room

Hey guys,

I'm in the market for some low-end studio monitors (< $500). I've found opinions all over the net, but if you have some more, I'd love to hear them.

My main question, however, is regarding the fact that I record in a large open space. I love the sound of the open live room and am 100% willing to sacrifice some audio fidelity for the sound it gets me. Keeping that in mind, can I trust normal opinions?

I found a really good deal on some KRK RP5s, and people rave about them... but they are the smaller KRKs... if I have a large room is it a waste to get smaller monitors until I can afford the RP8s instead?

Any help with this question or any monitor recommendations are most appreciated.

Cheers,
Jay.

RP8's *are* small monitors. 5's are tiny (and not worth a hoot, IMO/E except for editing and post work - and that's stretching it).

In any case - Recording in a large, "live" space is great - Mixing and monitoring on the other hand, is only as good as the accuracy of that space. If the space is large and accurate, there you go. If it's not, well, there you go...
