studio layout

im thinking about buying this prefabricated home to use as my studio. any ideas for a soundproof booth for drums/vocals and amps, and any ideas for the basic layout. i was hoping to use the kitchen/living area for bunk beds so bands could stay over.

any suggestions? would this be big enough?

will this be located at or near your house? do you need a kitchen? Can you get one that doesn't have the inside finished so you can build out your own design?

Without knowing the specifics of your existing land, location, and codes, I would submit you might want to check with your local Building Inspection Department for the particular Zoning Code. You may or may not be able to add another building on your land. Just a suggestion.

As to the "prefab" thing, you might want to consider your particular "isolation" needs as well. If high EXTERNAL isolation is required, personally I'd forget about these prefabricated modular units. They are lightweight construction and very difficult to modify for high Transmission Loss after installed. It would probably cost much more than to simply design for high TL in the first place.

Hey thanks John. You made my day. btw, Thomas Jouanjean made my day monday. He PM'd and said he agreed with most of the stuff I said last week over at Slutz in regards to that thread about Moultons room. Then he CALLED me. Holy moly. Boy did he say a mouthful ...most of which I didn't have a clue what he was talking about. Frankly, after I posted that I was..., I was having one of my "off days", if you know what I mean. Sometimes my character flaws get the best of me.
