Hello, I'm new here. I'm also completely new to the world of studio building. I have been looking through threads and have found basic building techniques, but most are built around soundproofing. I need a good room to track in, soundproofing is not important. I have seen people drop references to wood floors and bass traps and drop ceilings and that foam wall tile stuff, but I'm not quite sure how to implement it in my room. I will be running XLR cable to a different room in the house where my "Control Room" will be. Communication will be done through a 2-way video system (might as well use these old 20" TVs) mounted in the rooms. So basically, I need a room where reflective sounds are kept to a minimum and where I can get a fairly good recorded sound. Oh yeah, we're working with 100ft^2 here.

I created a website with pictures of the room I am trying to convert here: http://www.madferretdesign.com/studio.htm

Any help regarding materials and construction would be very helpful, as I know nothing about this sort of thing. Thanks!

For the complete story see the Acoustics FAQ, second in the list on my Articles page:

I have to be honest: That room is too small to get great results. If you cover every possible corner with bass trapping you might be able to improve it to the point of "not so bad."
