String Gauge?

I love GHS boomers for my electric and acoustic. I use 10's on the electric, but I could stand some 11's. I feel like I get more, well... Boom from the boomers, ya know? I've gone through a quick progression, in my five years as a player, from 8's to 10's. I've noticed more tone and volume on my electric.

On my acoustic, my picks are as follows:

1. Elixirs
2. Martin SP
3. GHS Bright Bronze

All of these in 12's unless I'm playing acoustic slide, where I will use 13's. They get just up off of the fretboard...

But anyway, GHS is an excellent string manufacturer.

I have a question... What are the "jazz strings" some of you have refered to? I'm unfamiliar.

For me every guitar demands something different.

My Tacoma C1CE plays best w/Elixer 12's.
My larrivee uses Daddario custom lights, and my Yari uses Daddario lights.
All three are auditorum size, but the sound is drasticly different. I also play in several tunings, and I get mixed reactions from strings in other tunings. so I customize each guitar for specific tunings.

I am the heaviest so far I see, by far! I run 14's on my bottom end and 12's on my top. I just suck with it and now I have monster callases and some very strong fingers. I can bend my top end like I could with my old 10's. These things scream on harmonics and sound SO full. I had to adjust my cheap Les Pual clone to make them work on it, but they haven't warped the neck yet. I have the hardest time finding strings though. To find 14s is hell. I usually buy the 11's or something and then buy a heavier gauge low e and use them all a step down. Pain in the ass. I have used Dean Markely's in the past, I think I use D'Addarios now.

Let's see, I started out with .10-s, then switched to .09-s (still like them), but then I saw a set of Thomastic .08-s on sale and had to try 'em! I'm a convert to .08-s, at least on my Les Paul. I still string my Yamaha Pacifica ("fat strat") with .09-s. I like D'Addarios, but I use Fender Bullets on the Yamaha - it's great together with locking tuners. I really like Thomastic, the unwound strings are covered with bronze-like alloy, which makes them last longer.

D'adario xl 10's for electric and Martin 10-46 acoustics(not sure of type).

I don't do a lot of fast leads, so I tend towards a 11-50 sting arangment. The fatter the string, the better the tone and sustain. Sometimes I use 12 - 52 If i'm I a angry mood :)

I use Fender Super 250s (09-42) on my Jag-Stang...I love these strings. I'm very intrigued by the Stainless 350s, or even the Stainless Bullets. Anyone ever try these? Since they are stainless, would they last longer? My strings tend to lose their 'flavor' after a while...I'm wondering if the Jag-Stang tremolo can handle bullets? Or not...anyone know? It has the dynamic vibrato like the Mustangs do. And what are the advantages of bullets?
