Being put togeather in the US doesn't mean it's not CRAP.

I own a Mexican Strat...It was made in 96. It has a very skinny neck, and it's one of the best necks I have ever played on. I put Red/blue, Silver, and Gold Lace Sensors in it, and it rocks better than most strats that I have played in music stores. I guess I found those one of a kind Mexican Strats.

Im not stuck on all those parts and stuff that were on bongolation's link...when it all comes down to it, it's the feel your looking for. You might luck out on a Mexican Strat and find a good one, but most times it will probably be a American Strat.

Just play a bunch, and find out for yourself. Your not going to get the answer you want off of a message board.

Such totally subjective judgments are a waste of time to discuss, however. If you want to discuss relative dollar value, knowing what a guitar is is important. That's data that's objective and available. It's meaningful. Whether you like the "feel" or "sound" of a given axe and he doesn't is meaningless to anyone else and will probably change with the next one off the line anyway.

While nothing is going to make a guitar that feels bad to you a smart purchase, being an educated buyer can't hurt.

Sorry for that statement...it must have came out wrong.

Yes, I do agree that knowing the guitar is important, and what parts make a guitar better as well. Knowing what parts make up a good playing guitar is essential when buying a guitar...but feel should precede that. For example, if you look at a guitar of all exotic woods and hardware, but plays like crap, then why spend the extra dollars on it?

All American Strats do not play the same. Neither do Mexican Strats. I was just saying that one might find a better deal for a mexican strat that MAY play better to him than a American Strat. I was stating that the person should go out there and try to see a differance.

It might be subjective to you...but when a person knows and feels what he likes, that is objective to that person.

That quote wasnt meant to be a attack on you Bongolation, Im just saying what I feel and that it might help this person in buying a guitar...is that so wrong? I dont believe it was a "totally" subjective statement.

I have a MIJ Strat that I truely love to play... Thanks to bongolation for that excellent link on Mex vs. American. I can certainly see some of the quality differences - You get what you pay for...

I did a major wiring and pickup change that really turned out nice. But my only complaint -

IT WEIGHS A TON! It is hands down the one of the heaviest guitars I've ever strapped on. It's heavier than a LP.

What's up with that?
