Here are all 72 switching combinations: 40 distinct tones, 72 with the phase switch.
"HC" in the rightmost columns indicates hum-canceling.
The phase switch position in the first 8 pickup combinations does not affect tone
nor does it affect hum-canceling and so it is not shown for those 8.

IF we’re still actually talking about a standard 5-way AND there is a T pot active in position 3 (middle only) THEN that T pot is also active in positions 2 and 4 (combinations with middle).

position 2 would be bound to the middle tone
position 4 should be bound the middle...

the necks control is ganged with the middle. in position.

at no time do 2 tones knobs function in one position.

Haha. In this case yes I’m non binary. I wouldn’t even play that thing let alone wire it up.
All my strats have a normal 5 way with a master vol and master tone wired up. The last tone knob does nothing.

I mean I assumed we were talking about the OPs mod where the MT was moved to the B and the NT is jumpered to the M, but even in stock Strat wiring the M+N position has both T pots active.

its true both tones work on neck-middle.

my strat just happens to be flipped where the tones knob works the bridge part..upside down..So I tried your argument on my Neck-middle doing nothing but one tone knob..
Then I tried it in the bridge middle and both tones worked.

I just couldnt do his version of the experiment..its upside down

because I thought the Bridge pickup was more in need of a tone control
the Neck pickup already sounded full and not shrill like bridge..
so I flipped the circuit so's my strat had a tone for the bridge and straight through neck

I am about to update my 2004 HSS Strat with Seymour Duncans. SSL1 in the neck, SSL 5 RWRP in the middle, and a Custom humbucker in the bridge,
I want to have tone control for the bridge pup.
The attached wiring diagram shows me how to do it, I've tried it with little success,
Anyone have any ideas or better ways to do it?
As you can imagine the hassle when it's wrong.

Yeah, and about 65 of those setting all sound almost exactly alike. This wiring setup is ridiculous.

It makes perfect sense that the protective pickguard plastic is half peeled away and dangling about like someone with a piece of toilet paper stuck to their shoe…lol
