Hi there i jusat got a soundcraft 760 24 track, and when i get it all hooked up to my patch bays, it only passes a low leval of sound. but when i pull the patch cable out a little i get full power sound. what could this be.
everything is ballanced, and i have 3 wierd snakes that are some soundcraft elco to female and male xlr that i have hooked to my patch bay with a bunch of hosa xlr to 1/4" trs snakes.
I'm lost and lossing it. thanks Ryan

Balanced/unbalanced cable mismatch.... if your gear is unbalanced, try using unbalanced cable all thru your chain.

Mr Bear, would there be an issue going from unbalanced outs of a soundcard to balanced ins on powered monitors?

I'm asking on behalf of this fella who seems to be having problems.

It really depends on how the balanced connection deals with the unbalanced input.... on my Lucid AD9624, for example, I can't feed it an unbalanced signal directly, but via the patchbay it works...

A lot of gear also has electronically balanced inputs, so it handles both types much more easily.

Try it - if it works, you're good to go!!

Much appreciated. like I said it's an issue that's arisen out of another thread but I'll direct the fella here.

Edit: sorry to hijack your thread Mr Jerkey
