if you want to save the whales then you may as well rap pro-bono

'if i don't rap about rappin', sh*t talking, or gun clappin'
b*tches won't buy my album and i can't feed my seed
if i rap about wine, they'll say I'm kind-a R&B
say i'm soft, say i fell off, say I'm weak like Jon B.,
but if i pull out my nine, i get shine, i get sales,
if i catch a charge, and make bail, my pockets damn sure swell
styles p, and ODB gots love on the streets
but look what happens to X-Clan, KRS-1 and Speech?
i feel that rap cross, i can tell you came off the dome with that one, just like i did with mine, but yours have a lot more meaning to it. i tried to explain that it's the enviornment and the industry structure that most of us fall victom to.
"only a few people go against the grain,
and only a few of those few remain
in this industry most people learn to take the easy route,
get in, get the money, and then get out."

some might say, "why be a follower, when you can be a leader?" followers choose to go down a secured path, that's already been laid down, leaders make their own path. in this industry most people learn to take the easy route, get in, get the money, and then get out. it's like what you learn in chemistry. you have a control group and an experimental group.
Experimental Group A
rap about rappin
violence eye for an eye80 -90%, stop the violence 10-20%
material objects
sexual content
uses explicit language
use of heavy slang
Experimental Group B
rap about people rappin about rappin
Experimental Group B
stop the violence 90%, eye for an eye 10%
white supremecy
black awareness
articulate speach
the control group learns from the experimental group. when gangster rap became mainstream it was the experimental group, everyone jumped on the bandwagon because it was selling more records than those who rapped about a movement, and now it's the control group. when common, mos def, black thought, talib kwale's video is number one on 106 and park for two months, plus goes 7x platinum, then you will see a change. group A gets slow dough, and group B gets mo dough.
if your main objective is to get the dough, then it wont' be hard to see who's gettin it, but if you want to save the whales then you may as well rap pro-bono. if you really look at it you will see that it is a vicious circle
A&R-promotes what the listeners want
Rappers- rap about what the A&R wants
listeners- want what all of the rappers rap about
