What? I don't have a clue what you're talking about/think we're talknig about.

Maybe he means to communicate with the band? I have an open end to my CR now, that will be sealed off shortly with a heavy door with a window in it - won't be great isolation, but should knock it down a ways. I also use sealed headphones that block outside noise to check during tracking -- usually more of a record a small bit - check it, record a small bit, check it. Anyway, I also can talk to them thru their headphones via the talkback mic on my board, which will become a necessity shortly.

If I answered the wrong question, please explain what you are asking a little more.......

the only thing I am still unhappy with is the main vox tracks that still sound like the room to much (fine for hard rock, but on intimate ballad stuff, not so much - not sure what I am going to do about that yet).

make (4) 7' rockwoll gobos, preferably about 4' wide
then surround the singer with them.
sound will leak out, but it'll be dead as a doornail in there.

I am running a bit behind.

I have the rack roughed in, and everything wired up. I will be doing some trim work tommorw and will post some pics. Then I start the rear wall - ughhhh

In-Wall Rack is done -

Sooooooo nice. :)

I wish i had the vision for design and color scheme you have.
I just know your tracking room is going to make me cry. :(

But i can't wait to see it! ;)

Bump for your awesome control room.

I'm going to head down to Lowes today and pick up some boards and lights to make a cloud just like yours. Only difference will be I'm using rockwool instead. :)

Nice work, but shouldn't your soffits be vented? John Sayers' design seems to have reflex-like ports at the bottom and top that let the monitors 'breathe'

I did NOT use his stock design.

My speakers are front ported, and my soffits are open-backed. If you look for "Kendale" over at John Sayers, I followed his basic design - with a few modifications.

My studio is in my house, and I was not willing to make any permanent modifications, so mine is not the best solution - but it is a MILLION times better than it was. :D

edit - and the front of my soffits are incorrect - when I put the new console in, I plan to fix them......

The definition of "Git R Dun". Most impressive!

Thanks!

I am going to find a Pro-Am photagrapher to take pics once the Trident is in and the room is COMPLETELY finished.

Wanted to update the thread a little. Here is a pic from a little while back -

Here is one of the back wall sections. It needs to be trimmed out, as well as the door frame. Will install a center section over the door. Add some lights, and stain and I will be done!

Still looking good.

So.. whats the deal with your monitors? I can appreciate having more than one set to check mixes but you are covering your soffit mounted KRKs and it doesn't look like you could easily use them. Are you finding yourself liking the new set better?
