Looking at your photos I get the feeling your monitors are too near your ear..... Take at least one pair, move (and raise) them to the side or your screen.....facing you. Now they should be about 2 and a half, to 3m from you. That is, an equal tri-angle from your sitting (monitoring) position......3m x 3m x 3m.

You can also try moving the whole setup towards the wall behind your chair..... with the result that your speakers are closer to the centre of the room..... That many bass-traps are also suspect to me.....
Good luck.

His room is only 12'x12' (less than 4 meters) square.

We're waiting for him to come back to us regarding the 'trying one speaker at a time' idea.

of course when i walk around the room there's bass all of the damn place with different variations of volume levels
but its crazy as soon as i come by my seat .. it all just disappears :(

Off the wall question, possibly just silliness. You say the SPLs at different levels all over the room? If so, is there noise cancelling at a specific HEIGHT in the room, or is it at ALL heights in the CENTER of the room?

are you sure it's not just that your speakers could be too far apart? that can severely alter how you perceive bass

I've experienced a similar problem with my home stereo speakers in a square room. I set my system up so that instead of firing into the wall parallel them I set my system up firing across the diagonal of the room. This alone cured most of my mode issues and with a little room treatment really brought it all together. Good luck.
