I was thinking of ordering some new tape from split.com. I'm going to get the LPR35 since I need a replacement to Ampex 457 on my Fostex R8.
I was wondering if this is a reputable site?
Has anyone had any problems with their service?
Has anyone done shipping to canada?

They have been around for a long time, and though I have never ordered from them they have consistently been a recommended vendor. I believe you can and should order with confidence.

I assume you're talking about Splicit Reel Audio Products - reel to reel recording supplies (not "splice").

If so, then yes, I've ordered from them before. It was a great experience --- very fast shipping and excellent customer service. I'm not in Canada though.

Amazing what the selection has come down to though.

They sell metal reels but no half inch.
Am I correct in assuming the metal is the same on all tape widths. The only difference is the screw length and the plastic center? I got a bunch of half inch pancakes.

Yeah...the flanges are the same.
Keep an eye on eBay...the 1/2" empties come up occasionally. Even if you find some old junky tapes...get them for the reels, dump the old tape, spool up your pancakes.

Thanks .yeah im getting to where i have more pancakes than reels. But thats a good thing. reels are easier to find than good tape.
