Did he ever say he had a perfect tone? Perfection is up to the person that's aiming for a certain tone. However harsh and crappy is fairly universal and your tone is a little harsh and just doesn't sit in the mix quite the same way a quality amp would. Once you finally get a quality amp(which you honestly don't have to spend a ton on) you'll understand what people are saying. You're awfully defensive, does it hurt your feelings when people say your amp sounds like crap? It shouldn't, if you're happy then great, be happy.
