Gone
This is a little thing that my step-daughter did with fruity loops and an MP3 player/recorder. It's her second time really experimenting with it, and man I am I proud! She's 15 and has a lot of style! I set her up with fruity and wavelab, and didn't really show her how to do anything!

Dear perverts, there are some "sounds" in this that "sound" a little like "that", but it's not supposed to be "that". As she might be reading some of your comments, I would appreciated it if you'd keep it relatively clean.

At any rate, anybody here who is familiar with some of my stuff will know why I'm so happy about it :)

Oh, and watch your speakers...it's mega heavy on the low end with some cone popping thumps.

Slack, now might be a good time to have "that talk" with her, about drugs. :) :) Don't let her get a hold of "Revolution #9" or anything by Pink Floyd, whatever you do.

He he. Very, very creative and artistic. And weird. I like it alot. 10.0 from the American judge.

That should make some of the "Musicians" here that play nothing more than a sampler happy. Sounds great,

Fangar

hey slack,
you tell your step daughter that I like what she did. now you will have to buy her a studio of her own so she can do her thang without you screwing it up. he he he he he

haha!! I totally hear what your saying......she has the Slackmaster style for sure.......It really was a scary song.......I know I would have been proud...

I would say you put this song, and 'the Next Day' on a single, and you'll have something that the whole family can enjoy..:D

Great Job!! She has the right ideas about music for sure...tell her to keep it up!!

BTW - I was checkin' out the new website and I downloaded some new tunes I haven't heard....I haven't listened to them yet but will get back later to do so....I only had time to listen to Blue B***s, and that was hilarious...:D

Hey thanks for checking it out guys :)

dtb, I was kind of worried for a bit that she might want her own little "studio", and I certainly can't afford two! But one day I had her help me set levels when I was recording drums and she damn near fell asleep...so no worries there :)

waldo, MP3.COM was acting up last night....I know I know, we're not supposed to mention MP3.COM around you :) hehe, thanks for trying though. Hey, if you'd offer a "deep linking" service at nowhereradio, I might buy into it. I pay $5 per month at MP3.COM for 50MB of space and 500MB transfer. Personally I think the transfer rate is a rip, and the service itself is flakey. Think about it!

fangar, samplers are instruments as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for listening!

chess, I recently bought her a copy of wish you were here, so too late. :)

Sabbath, thanks I'll tell her! Yeah, I put up a whole bunch of crap on my website that I had just sitting around...a bunch of stuff that'll never be finished and some real "old" stuff. Thanks for checking it out man.

um...er...that is...

That was a badass, frightening ditty that would fit right in on a blade 2 soundtrack...I loved it...

Hey Slack, pass something on to your step daughter for me will ya?

I recently started going back to college and am taking some Music/Recording classes. One of the classes is a three tiered class that has a cross section of students that include 18 year old beginners and 50 year old pros. Some people do a lot of sound design, some do music, etc.

Her song sounds better than 98% of what I hear in that class. She is very creative - I hope she enjoyed making that.

I am kind of proud too, since you are my boyfriend.

Slack,

I charge $2.50 a month for unlimitted space and 1GB of transfer... Don't see you signed up ;) Your songs also appear instantly, rather than waiting weeks.... The fact you got to do one extra click, why should that be a problem?

A type of Deep linking 'may' be supported in the near future for pay users, but I have to deligate a proper security method in which free users can't 'hack' the system.

(Mp3.com isn't using true deep linking, and technically, in the fine print, does not allow it)

I'll have a listen when I get home, got to run a ton of errands for NWR today.

I need the deep linking support. I use MP3.COM's B2B Audio Hosting Service, not the regular MP3.COM service, so I am actually "deep linking" and that's kind of the point. Links to my songs appear almost instantly after upload, including both hifi and lofi versions, and "preview" versions. I can also submit MP3's that are up to 192kbps I believe. ( http://www.mp3.com/corporate/b2b/b2b_hosting.html )

Let me know if you ever do get a service like that started. I'm considering using a host like phpwebhosting and just moving my entire domain over there, because they support MP3 hosting as long as it's part of your content and you're not just running a file server. That's only $10 a month which is reasonable, but $5 a month is even more reasonable. Right now my site resides on my own server and most of my song links are to mp3.com's B2B service ....like the one you're going to click on later when you listen to my kid's song! :) .... so I have basically unlimited control over my stuff....which isn't *that* important, but I've gotten used to it. I just don't have the bandwidth to host mp3 files, even if I only get 5-10 downloads a day.

Got everything there, with more space, and more bandwidth, for cheaper, only no direct linking is allowed, for obvious reasons. We even support VBR Mp3's of unlimitted bitrates (yup, even 512kbps VBR). We also have actual streaming, not just Mp3.coms 'download to cache and playback', which, even if you wanted no-one to download, everybody actually does, and can easily save the mp3 and redistribute it. It's SC protected format on NWR, when you disable the 'download' functionality.

I haven't watched mp3.com in a while, but every single contract/disclaimer I ever read said no direct or deep linking, so they must have changed their rules for this program.

I will let you know when/if I change that one little thing. I might have to increase the price of course, to allow direct linking, since no ads, and no exposure, means no benefit to NWR, and $2.50 obviously doesn't cover the cost at that. Maybe just different levels of service would work...

To me it's not a little thing. Call me crazy, but that's just how I feel. The MP3.COM B2B Service exists for the sole purpose of deep linking. There is no other way to access the material; the links have to be used on another website because MP3.COM does not provide an access page for them (aside from the administrative console that I use to manage them).

I suppose it might be hard to figure out how much revenue you'd lose if you offered a deep linking service, which is what you'd have to use to set the price I'd imagine. I probably only get about 40-50 plays during an average month, and maybe 300 plays during a productive month. Is 300 people seeing an advertisement on nowhereradio worth five bucks? I have no idea how that stuff all works, but I'd rather pay you than pay MP3.COM. I'm just not willing to have my visiters leave the site, or pop up another window with my material on it. The music page on my site ( http://www.slackmaster2000.com - it's sort of in an upgrade state at the moment) is all scripted and super easy to maintain. I really like what I've done with it and want to keep it this way...in fact I almost have to considering some of the things that are on the horizon.

You know, I would be willing to put a reasonably sized nowhereradio link on the site if you did allow a deep linking service...as long as I could control it. For instance a little "MP3 Content Hosted by Nowhereradio.com" thing somehwere...or *maybe* even a very small unobtrusive graphic.

Slackmaster 2000

You're PAYING for that service?

Man, I guess it's so "deep linked" that I can't even access it.

Both links lead me to time-out land. :( :(

I really wanted to hear the Slackette get Fruity with her bad self.

And I understand the disregard with which you hold those services that really hold you hostage to their ad plan. That was certainly the case with Prohosting.com. They offered a freebie service and couldn't deliver on that so I'm not inclined to want to sign up for the paid service with them.

But Waldo's setup is really VERY close to the direct click you hope for, and benefits you as well since it forces the mp3 browser to visit your nowhere radio home page and then select a song.

OK- they fixed it and it came down at 300KB/sec. WHEW!
If that's the normal deal then they have some serious clout in the mp3 delivery department. I'm talking 18 seconds for a 5MB file.

Man that took a long time (dial-up here). Your step daughter heh? Maybe you’re not the young *art I thought you were ;). Musta worked ‘cause I’m scared. Very good, keep up the good work kiddo! :)

OK Now that I got hold of this.

THIS ROCKS.

What has that girl been listening to?

I like the robotic sounds that support the bassline that started around 1:15.

Tell her to work on getting some higher frequency content into some of those lines used as pads.

actually, one of the cooler things I have heard in this forum. .....as I especially liked the first minute. I could have done without the repeated loops, down the line, later in the composition...but that's ok, I suppose.

slack...does she have any pics?:p

good for her with this track... ..... A few more years wit Fruity and just imagine what she'll be doin

damn, this is good!! she's going to be making some scary good music if she keeps this up.
