Yea, like cleanning the heads... oh wait, I bet they'd give me that job. LOL. By the way Justin, I checked my B mic's and their good... I'm going to confirm your statement on the other thread. Thanks again.

I just pointed out a price difference, which i thought was relevant since the price difference was brought up....if that was considered a flame or insult, then i might as well give up now.....my whole worth to this board is finding the cheap gear at the cheapest price..... :)

And I'm sure we could find better things for you to do than dig up prices if we put you on payroll.
that statement just plain horrifies me, yet intrigues me.....are you hitting on me Justin?:D  :p ;) :)

Very good point and fair enough. Thanks Gidge for keeping us all honest. :)

Who's on Justin's back?

It seems that everyone is a bit hyper-sensitive lately to any questions or comments that might be directed at anyone from SP. Pins and needles.

Comingin2nd,

Are we to presume that you have used both mics?

No, I was just giving Mr. PMI a hard time.:D

Ok thanx guys, but has anyone tried the T3, I havn't heard any comments about that mic, but I think you all may have been shocked that I used the word crap and NTK in the same sentence.

I would like to see thee guys from SP try to sell there product over the NTK, ......what more could your mic offer me?

Really guys I will test both mics out (although I dont don't sing it cant hurt), but do you think i'ts a better option going for the NTK at $350US then the T3 at $500.

Also in regards to Valve mics in general, what sort of voice do they sound better with...Female, male, soft/hard singing, screaming, spoken word??? I heard that the vlave mics work better with female voices, is this crap?

I think exactly what the SP guys don't want to do is try to sell you their mic on this forum, starting up the spam wars again, although they'll be happy to answer questions. I have never used the T-3 but a couple of people on the board do, and have declared it a worthy mic. The Rode has no frills. No omni, no figure of 8, no pad, no bass rolloff. It's just a very useful cardioid valve mic. I can attest that the NTK is very good on male and female voices and it's very good to yell at it. I use it for the blues, among other things. The T-3 is newer, and far less people have actually used it, so the reviews are harder to find. Do a search on the board on T3*.-Richie

I am more and more impressed with my NTK everyday. It’s excellent on vocals. It has a smooth top end and just a hint of presence boost that flatters every vocalist I’ve used it on so far, male or female (which, I admit, is only five vocalists). I’ve gotten excellent results on mono drum overhead, guitar amp, accordion, tambourine (if you want a huge, in your face sound), acoustic guitar (it’s so nice for mono parts in a busy rock mix), nylon-string acoustic. I’ve never found a source that it didn’t flatter (although sometimes “flatter” isn’t what the source called for for a particular song.) Buying the NTK is the best thing I’ve done for my recordings since I ditched my Tascam 8-track in favor of DAW recording.

Here's a NTK for $375 + $13 for shipping...

I bought a pair of NT5 from this person for $215, all the stuff is brand new w/ warranty. His starting price is now $220 on the NT5 but a few weeks ago it was $199.

The NTK is good on many sources besides Vox. I've been using it "out front" for my Kick drum and it also adds some bottom to my Toms. I like it alot on accoustic guitar. I got lucky, it works on my voice too. I was looking for a Mic for "My" voice and figured I'd start w/ the NTK after using my friends C1 (which I don't like too much). If it didn't work out I'd look into the V67, B1, and maybe the Dragonfly... it worked out. I did a lot of research though and from peoples descriptions it just seemed like the NTK would fit me.
Got mine w/ shockmount for $300, used, on one 5 month recording project as drum Overheads. (he had 2, wish I would have bought both of em)

Good Luck,
B.
