soundtrac mixer help........

im getting a european mixer, Soundtrac TOPAZ. The thing is,.....it doesnt have the ac power cord.

does anyone know if this mixer needs a special ac plug? or can i just go to radio shack and buy a replacement ac power cord easily?............

well, ive got one on order, so forget about that last post. im all set.


has anyone ever used the soundtrac Topaz series before? how are they?
I read alot of stuff that people actually prefer these over mackie and soundcraft mixers...........

what do you guys think?

Yeah, I've got a Topaz 8 and I love it.

What impresses me the most is the eq-section. Smooth and great sounding.

mines the "old school" all anologe mixer. Topaz Macro with 10 XLR inputs, 12 inputs total. I scored this baby on Ebay for only $75! The guy who listed it misspelled it.....so no one else bidded on it but me!

i wouldnt need a digital mixer because im using this to capture all the mics, and then feed it into my m-audio delta 66 sound card, which then goes into Sonar 4 producers addition.

what do you guys think? is this a decent setup to get started on some "serious" good sounding at home recordings?

I have a 24ch Soundtracs SOLO.
Not a bad mixer. The best thing about it is the EQ section. I use it on occasion. But it is one heavy SOB.

I've got a Sountracs MX. When I got it it was a bit noisy, so I gutted teh op amps and replaced them with some new, clean ones. A bit of re-conformal coating and soldering here and there... wollah! wonderful, clean board with that old school british EQ. I believe the Topaz will be even better suited as I believe it was their studio line.
And, of course, Soundtracs then went on to create Digico, which are great digital consoles, and, one day, I hope to own one... but htat's a while off yet...

However, I'm going through a rough patch ATM so my MX is up for grabs. Didn't want to spam, but, hey, I gotta sell the thing...

the one is scored is the original 'made in UK" anologe mixer. i had to have the PSU power adapter changed/modded for USA outlets.

this one is pretty old, but its not the current made in china ones, but the older build in UK model.

how is this one differnt from the current ones like the topaz project 8?
