Hello was wondering what ya'll opinions are on these two editing softwares? Thanks! Peter

What can be said is that they're great!

I'm a regular user of SoundForge 6 and have tried Wavelab 4, and they both do the same thing. Wavelab has some more functions and is a bit on the expensive side.

Buth if I had the money, I'd get Wavelab.

IMHO Wavelab is better. But Wavelab also costs more.

They are both good products at their respective prices, so it mostly depends on what you need and how much want to spend.

Toyota's and Lexus's are both good cars - if you get my drift.

I have both....

I havent dug into Wavelab yet... Sound Forge is a little more simple to get started... I am using the programs to Dither down 24 to 16bit files... Does Wavelab top Sound Forge in this department???

How about CD architect??? I heard this program is the ish.

Woa!!! How the phukk did you afford to buy both?

:D

SSSHHHHH

Dont Tell anybody.... Wavelab looks better for Burning options.. Im not sure though.....

Well, I don't have Wavelab... Too expensive to my pocket :( SoundForge 6 is great !!! I had to say it because I bought it, use it, and happy with it :D Actualy, I prefer Cool Edit Pro 2. Stupid me I bought both and find a lot similiar feature on them... But both never let me down... I use them often. Great company for SONAR !!!

Dachay persuaded me to buy Wavelab...and I think it is superb. Easy to use and very powerful.

Compared to Sound Forge its Rocket Science at first attempt. I cant even get 24-or 16 playing out of the damn thing.

Hey Bsage, watchoo tryin to do wiv it? Post back and we'll try and help:)

My friend has a burnt copy of Soundforge 6.0 (full version) and Wavelab 4.0 (full version). Is there a disadvantage to accepting these from him? He offered them to me for free. Only thing I see wrong is it is a "copy" and not being able to upgrade, etc. Hummm

Yes, it's not legal!

Skycries57, here's a tip for you, do not come onto this BB and post anything that makes members suspect that you are using cracked or pirated software. It is regarded as theft. Which it is. Steinberg have just sold out their company and it is rumoured that if just 20% of the people who ripped them off had paid the fee's for their programs, then they would have taken the other company over instead.

The folk who post here pay their dues and expect to get the best service out of Cakewalk/twelve tones and we can only get that if everyone pays for their copy of software.

Its a bit "old fashioned" on this BB but thats what makes it so great. Shared values and beliefs are similar. And thats the way we like it:)

I know it's easy to question someone on the fundage for buying both software proggies, but really it's not that difficult to get a hold of both- I mean you can download demos of everything off their websites to compare them head to head. Wavelab even came with my Audigy2 for no extra $, so you can get good deals on everything - and if you wait long enough, there's always someone who is upgrading and willing to sell last year's version really cheap... I certainly hope you don't think that is heresy!:)

Not heresy, but still illegal. When you buy software, you are actually buying a "license" to use the product (hence the "I agree" checkbox when you first start it up). If later you purchase a product "upgrade" the license is transferred from the older product to the newer one. Therefore, in essence, the older product no longer contains a license and you can't legally sell it.

Now if you purchased the newer version at the full retail price (i.e., not under an upgrade program), than both versions would be licensed. Of course, no one is going to do that however.

A couple of people on the Sonar newsgroup contacted Cakewalk ahile back about donating older versions of PA or Sonar to a local school. Cakewalk actually approved it, but it's probably best to get their permission first before doing it, just to keep it on the up and up.

I'm not trying to climb on a soapbox here. Just tell you what is kosher and what isn't. What you choose to do is your own business.

However, as Paul said, people should not come on this BBS and talk/brag about it. Keep it in the privacy of your own home. Many people here rightfully take offense to stealing.
