I have never used soundfonts, but there is a trial soundfont program in Sonar to play them. I have a lot of WAV files, many of which are individual drum hits and a lot of sampler data for Roland/Akai and Emu samplers. Is there a program available which will convert either wav data or sampler data to soundfonts? Thanks in advance.

You might be able to do a "SAVE AS" in SoundForge, to convert your WAV. file into a soundfont file (I am not sure about this, because I don't have SoundForge in front of me right now).

I don't think Sound Forge supports Sound Font files. It's more than just an audio format.

There's a free tool called Vienna Studio that one can use to make Sound Fonts. It's not as easy as just saving an audio file in a special format. It's more like creating a sound for a sampler -- you have to program parameters, assign samples to note values, and other such stuff.

Thanks for your assistance. If anyone knows more about this, I would be appreciative of a website or ???

Thanks... I used an old version of AWAVES I had a made a simple soundfont2 drum kit in about 5 minutes out of wav files... Could be more complex like velocity switching, but setting those parameters seems kind of easy. I think multi sampled instruments could be harder because of setting loop points etc (finding those $%^&@*%"&#^ things was never my strength). Thanks for the help.
