I don't usually like posting the same thing on different BBs but here seems more active than the new place at present.
Does anyone have any opinions on Soundcraft 2" 760/762 recorders.......I know of a 16 trk going at a ridiculous price but feel somewhat cautious......the seller claims to know nothing about it which may be his way of avoiding saying what may be wrong with it.
I remember a similar question and thread about Soundcraft reel to reels about 8 months ago and I believe the consensus was that they were great machines but getting parts and service for them might be real trouble as this line of machines mostly only sold in the UK. I am not sure how popular they were in Australia where you are.
For a beast of that size and magnitude, I would get my service ducks in a row and make sure you can obtain parts and brains to help you with the deck, should you need it.
The old line of the seller saying he's not familiar with the machine, is a classic and stale way of saying, "sure it's got problems! But, I'm a scumbag!"
