No - not totally against it... it's just that haven't been impressed with the summing inside my DAW (via Cubase SX)....

Not all summing is created equal - and I've heard stunning mixes out of Yamaha and Sony digital boards.

I could be wrong (since I don't have stats to prove it) but my IMPRESSION from what I've seen so far is that DAW-summing and summing via mid/large-format digital consoles are two completely different things from a sonic perspective.

I would assume you are correct, atleast from a mathematical standpoint , since digital summation is performed via mathmatics and different companies would use different algorythms. Although, I see no reason why a DAW program could not use a superior algo as easliy as an inferior one. I guess what I am saying is, as far as my understanding, the hardware is irrelavent to the actual summation.

Also, I agree, recall is a nice thing! :D

The "Not really Peavey" AMR consoles are actually of a much higher build quality than the Ghost and sound easily as good if not better. The Ghosts have noise, grounding, crosstalk and power supply issues, are muddy sounding even when modded and the electromechanical componentry is not even close to the Peavey AMR console's standard. The AMR Eq's are just as smooth as the Ghosts and the routing options are vast. There are factory automation options for the Ghost but not for the AMR unless you want to fit an aftermarket system in them. In order to get the ghost up to the same standard you will have to spend about $3k on mods, so the AMR is a better option if automation is not an issue. If you decide to do a centre section mod on the AMR, it will obliterate a fully tricked out Ghost every time. I have owned both consoles, and a few others so I'm speaking from experience, not just hating on something because I don't like the sticker on it.
Hum Peavey or Soundcraft Ghost. Thats hard - SOUNDCRAFT GHOST!!

Soundcraft has some of the best EQs you can buy and their pres are warm and full.

Peavey I can't saw the hiss is so loud I can't hear anything

You realize that this is a ten year old thread, don't you?

When did the board you are talking about come out?
