Check it out. Making bank changes on Cubase and Fruityloops is easy. All I have to do is enter the bank number in the field labeled Bank. But its the MPC that is causing me problems. Having to place that CC#0 and CC#32 command in front of every track on every pattern I make is a hassle. All my problems would be over if the sound module could some how automatically put all the CC messages in my sequence for me. What I would do is make my song with any of the sounds on any of the banks I want. Then when I am done, press some button or perform some operation in the sound module that would send the midi data to my sequencer, placing all the CC's that I need in there. That way, when I come back to my song later, it will automatically go to the right bank, use the right patches/programs, have the correct effect placed in, ect. Is there any sound module that can do this?

Ok, you may or may not know, but I have an MPC 2000xl, Korg nx5r, cubase, fruityloops, and I plan on purchasing an emu turbo phatt. Right now, I am trying to figure out how to do this with my mpc and nx5r.

While messing with my nx5r, I saw something called "Dump Out: Midi Dump." That got me thinking that maybe I can automatically dump the midi cc messages into my sequencer using that or a similar operation. I saw somehting in another post stating that one could dump performances as system exclusive information (sysex). Someone else mentioned something about a patch list. He stated that if I can set up one, it would automatically send a message to my module to open the correct bank when the sequence starts playing.

Now we are getting somewhere!!!! I am sure someone in here will be able to help me with this now. How would I perform the midi dump or sysex dump from my sound module (nxr5) to my sequencer (mpc). Can any module do this, in particular the emu module? Will this automatically put the CC# bank changes into my sequence? How would I set up a patch list on my MPC that would correspond to the patches and banks on my sound module?

Thanx a bunch. All info is appreciated. It is giving me a better understanding of how module work and why they actually may not suck (if you use em right).

yes.. you can dump bank messages and stuff like that to your sequencer but doesn't the korg have performances???

The problem with performances is that you are limited to the amount of performances the modules rom can hold. Mine can hold 32 performances I think. I make more than 32 songs in a 2 month period, so after that I would be stuck. I would rather have all bank change info put into the midi file so that it will load up the banks automatically, and I wont have a limit on how many "performances" I can save.

Would you happen to know how to perform this on a Korg N series synth?

there should be a note in your manual about it.. otherwise you'd have to contact korg for the info... I only know how to perform dumps on Novation and clavia modules..
