@caotico, what makes you think mic1 is 603? Please share your thoughts.
 
Great Mics!

Is it possible what I am hearing? You got that sound from $19 mics? That's amazing! Could you please let me know how your room was setup that you recorded in? I have tried recording acoustic guitar in the bedroom and bathrom and can't get even close. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.
 
This has been one of my favorite songs for a while, we just dont sing old hymns anymore around here, thanks for the clips :)

Yeah, I guess that would be more helpful :)

I'm not really an expert on all the different terms for coloration (warmth, harshness, sheen, etc). I'm just used to the noise that the 603 seems to add to the sound source (somewhere in the higher frequencies). Also, as wrongly attributed to the 603's cardoid pattern above (suggesting proximity effect), the basiness of the second mic suggested that it was not the 603. In my experience, the 603 is not too great for picking up lower frequencies. I guess that's about as scientific as I can go without simply saying that it sounded like the mxl. I need to get better at these mic sound descriptions.

My experience with 603's has told me something different. The overall is noise has been pretty low and the bass seems exaggerated. Maybe there are inconsistencies with the 603's?

Interesting, I don't have too many guitar tracks with them. I have mostly used them as drum overheads. But I tend to prefer the sound of an LDC on my accoustic. Also, maybe I should do a search on this, but I have a pair of the MXL 603s mics. Is there a big difference between the 603 and the 603s?

There is no difference, they are the same. As Travis said "s" is for stereo

I think it's actually plural, as opposed to stereo (just to be clear, I'm sure most everyone gets that, but.....). In other words, it's not an s on the model number indicating stereo pair. I've always wondered if people might think that when I've written about SDCs, which I almost always use in pairs. I wonder how much time has been spent looking for that elusive KM-184s. :)
 
One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing an apostrophe s to make something plural.

spaced pair, at 12th fret and at the bridge about 12~14" away.

hard panned both left and right.
