ROD, RICK .... and everyone,
There is an interesting discussion on bass traps here. I have tested bass traps (in laboratory conditions) made with 2” semi-rigid fibreglass boards (703) with an adequate air space behind (12 inches will go down to 50 hz). I call them “pressure gradient traps”. I have observed that sealing the trap is very important. A few mm of gap around the trap or between pieces affects enormously the performance; mostly under the quarter wave length frequency. (excuse my Canadian English)
