Stick a fork in it. This sucker's done.

Your remixing perserverance has paid rewarding dividens and you really used the comments from the board to your advantage.

Sounds stellar dude,

Peace.........

I never got the water drip thing before and the tie to your occupation. Assuming it's intentional. Funny.

The "hard" sections are perfect. I don't hear anything wrong at all. It all kicks real hard and sounds awful nice.

During the "soft" sections ("I was feeling rather good today..."), I thought maybe the answer-back vocals could be brought up just a bit. Only a personal preference.

I heard a little clip or something at :27. I was suprised that participant caught that click on "today" - I had to listen real hard a couple of times. But it's there.

I think this is my favorite of yours. Cool song.

i like this song. i like the singing and harmonies, guitar sound is great, drums are really nice. i just got myself one of those td-8's and LOVE the snare drum sounds.

ok, i don't like the synth sounds. just my opinion but everything else sounds so real that it just sticks out to me. maybe that's what you're going for but maybe an acoustic guitar instead of fake strings would sound better? maybe some sort of tremolo guitar sound? i don't know but i know i don't like what's there now.

now this is WAY out in left field but....have you ever heard a song called "Well you needn't" by Thelonius Monk? I think some well chosen samples from an old recording of that might fit well in this song. Don't ask me why but it just occured to me.

Good mix, I say. I would (personnaly) like a little more 'crack' in the snare drum. Somebody is coughing at 1:13, not sure if it's intentional or not, but I like it.

The snare seems to have a very small amount of ring in it that I don't really agree with. I like ring in the snare sometimes, but I don't think it fits this song. Like I said, its a very small amount, almost inaudible.

The vocals are definitely out in front, that's for sure! I like the overdrive on the vocals, it's done tastefully.

Good job, Samicide!

thanks doods!

Axe4Yahweh - yeah this is a happy one eh? :) thanks for the ears man..

Charva - long time no see man.. 'marijuana polka' is still one of my all time homrecer favorites.. looking forward to the new ones.. thanks for checkin' it out..

caretaker9 - up until this point you were able to avoid hearing me croon.. sorry your luck ran out! :D thanks as always for bothering.

petelait - muze my man, glad to hear it sounds decent over there.. I think the only radio that would play my stuff would be 'ham radio!' :D and of course Nowhereradio, but that's only because Waldo doesn't discriminate.. :D I am going to be making a Cd, and I'll probably make copies and just give them away to who ever feels sorry enough for me to take one.. :) thanks for the ears bud!

M.Brane - I like punchy drum sounds too, but I just can never get them. :( I'll try those e.q. suggestions.. thanks for the ears and the tip man! :D

Guernica - you are one of the reasons why I mixed this a billion times.. When I posted it last time, everyone thought it sounded good.. Then I got to your reply and you were using words like 'harsh, mid-range, honky sounding' etc, :D It was exactly what I was thinking but no one really mentioned it.. I'm glad to hear you say it sounds better, but I think you probably just gave up like I did.. :D thanks G! let me know when it's collaboration time!

mixmkr - "what's the secret behind the drip" :D It could be either of 3 things mix.. The first one could be, I was going for an abandoned basement asylum type feel, and there were lots of leaks in the damp, dark, ice cold concrete room.. :D almost like locked in the dugeon of an abandoned asylum.."yeah that's it!".. (I literally laughed out loud while typing that one!) OR it could be riches to rags, meaning 'just a drop in the bucket,' financially speaking.. NAH! :D It's just a plumbing thing.. Funny that you made the connection.. Are you sorry you asked? :D
You were another main reason why I remixed this.. When you said 'where's the high's,' I erased it.. I'm glad you think it's an improvement.. thanks as always mix! :D

Cranky One - if you think these vocals are off,
wait until you hear the vocals I started to lay for our collaboration tune!
thanks Crank, you suck! :D

boydrj - good to hear, thanks man!

theron - when I listen to older mixes before I started getting feedback, it scares me.. glad to hear its sounding decent over there.. You were another very helpful set of ears.. thanks..

Triple M - I always brace myself for your comments because I expect them to be bad, but not without trying to be helpful.. and I appreciate that you always bother.. yeah participant's a trip! :D I will listen for the clip you mentioned.. glad no one else mentioned it. :)

enrichenryus - "Thelonious Monk" I never heard of it, but it sounds cool. What is it?.. I hear what your saying about an acoustic sound working, and then going into the heavy part.. I will use that idea on another tune.. This one I was going for a certain 'last moments before insanity' type feel. :D The keyboards were almost like an insane circus type thing.. :D  Congrats on the TD-8! It took a long time before the sound grew on me.. I really didn't like the snares at first, but once I started recording a lot, I learned to love them! thanks for the comments man..

DarthFaders - I really wanted to get your ears on this because of the high quality of your stuff.. It sounds like you think the vocals are almost at the point of being too loud and I agree.. People here kept telling me to turn them up, and then I started getting used to hearing them like this.. I think my voice should be a bit lower.. I also agree about the snare, but the drums are on a 2 track stereo mix.. I can only e.q. the whole drum set.. :( (electric)thanks for the ears.. your stuff is serious quality.. your comments are noted..

Hey :( - I compliment you on every song on the recording/mixing because it's good on every song. Then I kick you in the butt where you need it. :) You'll have opportunity to reciprocate soon - I'll be posting something.

Noticing that I was the only one who mentioned the :27 thing I downloaded it again just in case there was a glitch the first time. It's not a clip, but it's a little skip in the line "Though it doesn't look that way" on the word "doesn't."

it's cool Trip! I definitely need the kick!

I'm going to listen for that click right now.

lookin forward to your next post!

EDIT------- I just listened to that part, I think that's a choke on my part!

damn fine ears!

:D

I'm suprised nobody noticed the obvious drum screw up!

They were probably busy listening to how good the rest of the song was!:D

I got my picture back, thanks to the powers that be!

Hey this is cool, now I can post two responces to everything!
Mabey even post a responce to my own post's like-

Man you suck!

Now I know how you spent the money your mom gave you for
singing lessons!

Don't quit your day job!

Or my all time favorite-

You call that guitar playing!
:D :D :D

(Sorry Sam,I just gotta be me!)

Man, I'm struggling along trying to make silk purses out of sows ears--everything is turning to crap. Now you have the gall to go post something really good and all my labors sound even worse to me!

Don't you dare touch those vocals! They are right where they belong. Those heavy sections are so deep and spacious too. I really like that. Great mix all around too. Top notch. Put a fork in it.

Back to the drawing board for me. In a few months, maybe I'll figure out how to do everything right at the same time. Till then, keep posting! See ya Sam!

muzeman in the house!! Glad to have you back.. That other guy scared me!

I like having two names and i might have to create another, just to keep things fresh.. :D
(I really must get some type of life)

crawdad - you know you rule!;) thanks for the positive vibe.. I am suprised that there aren't more mix complaints.. I must be doing something better... (for once)

If its any consolation, the rest of my life is in shambles.. :)

hey Chad! :D

and still no one catches the drum mistake!

"There are no mistakes,only retakes!":D

BTW-You mean this ain't life?:o

Sounds good to me....but I have car lag. If i remember correctly you've really "naturaled up" the vox and it's much the better for it. Cool harmonies....I didn't really notice them the first time so I think you must have bumped them up in the mix. Where'd the dripping water come from? Is it a sound effect or did you record it yourself? Sounds very lifelike. I just got in from a trip to tropical storm Bertha and the cheesy room we had leaked like a sieve so I know what drips sound like :)

Lt. Bob - hey Lt, I got the drip from a sound effects CD.. It came in a box of Lucky Charms cereal.. :) Really.. It was a halloween spooky sounds cd.. The lucky charms were magically delicious too. :D  Glad to see you back in action.. and Yes, if it sounds good, it is just your car lag.. :D thanks Lt.!

muzeman - my life is like a box of chocolates........ when you have a bad toothache.. :D

'sweet and painful' :D

Leave my mom out of this!

listened several times... everytime I say ... you shouldn't listen to sams songs they are dark and minor ... :D and end up listening anyway... :)

the mix is good to my untrained ears man... I wish you could record it with real drums... somehow it struck me that it's realy lacking from not having the sustain of a real set....

but the mix is good ... the vocals seem good to me where they are level wise ...

cheers

I'm just getting tired of seeing this 'lame ass' post title....

"I'm sorry"......:( :( :( :( :(

you aint no metal basher if ya gots feelins like dat!!!

Sam the sensitive.....Ha!

"I'm sorry"....:( :( :( I just had to beat on someone...and yours was the closest post!!!

Alrigh, some impressions while listening . . .

I'm at the very beginning, and I'm having some flashbacks from an acid trip a while back.

Now, it's starting to sound very Alice in Chains (Angry Chair?).

Oh no! The acid trip is back again! :D

Okay, it's starting to get pretty cool, now. Hmmm. Nice solo. I thought you were going back to the acid trip again, but you surprized me! :D Now I'm hearing water trickling. I'm definitely sleeping with the lights on tonight. This is some creepy/cool/ twisted stuff.

Comments: Overall, I think you've got a little low-mid muffle and mud going on, I have to be honest. Your culprit seems to be right around 150 hz. A cut around there might be helpful. Also, you've got a lot of subsonic rumble action going on, which would be pretty cool on the right speakers, but I'm not sure that there has to be so much. Maybe you could do a shelf from 40 hz and bring that down just a hair. Most speakers can't reproduce that stuff. :D A high shelf boost from 2500 hz, or just a wide boost at that freq. could help clarity as well.

Just some nitpicky stuff. Overall, it is a very cool tune I compare favorably to Alice in Chains, which is a high compliment.

hey mix, I'm surprised your thread wasn't named "I'm sorry," after hearing all those mistakes on your latest tunes!

:D j/k

Fed - I am going to be recording a few tunes with real drums soon.. I hope they turn out better.. I'm renting out a rehearsal studio and I'm going to try to get some drums recorded using 4 cheap mics.. I'm sure it will sound bad, but I'm curious to hear it.. Thanks for bothering Fed, my songs only seem dark.. you gotta try to picture it as a movie or a play or something.. :D

chessrock - cool tips! now that's what I'm talking about! :D I knew it wasn't all good.. I will try those suggestions.. I hear things that are wrong and I can't describe it.. Maybe those settings will help.. :) I take the Alice reference as quite a compliment..:D thanks man!
