really nice song man, good lyrics

you could bring up the vox a bit at the start and throw on a desser

Very nice. I agree that the vocals are buried at times. It all sounds a bit muddy, like there is too much artificial or natural reverb. Nice song, me likey.

Thanks guys. You're right. It could really use a de-esser, especially on the "sweet dreams" part. The vocal performance is a little off and stiff, and some reverb could come off. I will definitely do a remix, maybe retrack the vocals at a later date...I pretty much tracked, then mixed the song in an afternoon-with no break in between. Coming back to it with your suggestions will make a big difference I bet.

Definitely a familiar theme - and strikes a chord in my heart as a parent. Plus two of my sisters were adopted. Upbeat and fun. Mix wise, I'd work on the sibilance - the rest seems pretty good.....:)

Depending on your upper vocal range, it might benefit from transposing it up a few steps. It sounds like the lower part (the verse) is a little deepr than your comfort range. However I do like the nearly spoken quality of the vocals - sorta Lou Reed-like, I guess. So maybe the transposition might wreck that. I guess it might be worth trying with a capo to at least see what happens.

I'd also Eq some of the lows or low mids out of the vocals. That might help it stand out a bit, and not smear together with the other instruments.

good song, though! Keep at it!

Hey guys...thanks for the replies. They've been very helpful and encouraging. I've remixed it based on what's been posted, and I think it turned out much better than the original mix. If you feel like checking it out one more time it's the one called "Braden" remix. I had a little bit of hesitation posting such a sappy little love song, but like I said, I appreciate the feedback.
