OK, been using Sonar 4 for a long time now, never had this happened before..

When I try to open up a project file for a particular song then.. nothing.. NOTHING happens at all, the screen stays blank, and my cpu-usage goes up to 100%.. my screen looks like this:

Anyone ever experienced something like that and/or have any input to what it might be causing this problem, or even possible solutions..?

All inputs greatly appreciated, thanks..

Hope you have a backup. I think your file is corrupted. And you'd better find out why 'cause you may have a problem with your HD. Start testing your HD for integrity (read/write) and start backing up everything important

Try this option:

open the file in safe mode

If that fails and you are working with a bundle file you can rename it to wav and then open it in Sonar and all your tracks will be on one track one after the other and you need to re-align them, or if you work in folder per project, just start a new project and import the audio from the audio folder.

Porter's advice is sound. Safe mode disarms potentially corrupting plugs.

If it still doesn't work, there is likely a problem with the file itself.

Good luck,

Kev-

Thanks for the replies guys, really happy to see you helping me out..

I'm gonna try out all of your ideas, and then I will probably get back to you either with a big "thank you" or a big "?"..

Luckily I HAVE backups of the audio in the project, but I would preferebly not have to do the mixing part all over, the song was nearly finished, bummer..

But, as tanky wrote, even though I still have the files on my backup this is making me very worried, I definetely want to know if there is a problem with my HD, that would be NOT good...!!

Thank you so much for the tip porter, Safe Mode was the way to go, found out that a plugin called revolverb was corrupting the file, so happy me, all ok..!!

Safe mode thumbs up, revolverb thumbs down.. or something..

OK, if anyone can tell me how to give rep points, I owe porter +1 for saving my ass..

Click on the picture of the "justice scales" at the top right of the post for which you want to give him kudos.
