For those of you who are broke and don't have mic stands laying all over or for those who like to make things, try this if you are so inclined.

Make makeshift mic stands out of desktop clip lights and stands. Those lamps that have the adjustable necks and the bell for the lamp. tear the guts out and cut the metal on the back of the lamp and tapeup the sharp edges and put foam on the inside. then just position the mic into the foam and run the cable out the back. you can clip mic anywhere in the room or near an amplifier and adjust to taste. i would'nt suggest going out and buying a new lamp to destroy but if you've got old junk ones laying around, make use. i've got three and i'm an idiot.

hahaha

Great idea.......how about those of us who get a coathanger, bend it in a circle, and with the help of an old panty hose from the wife, make a pop filter for vocals?

I made a nice little pop filter just like you described, Tweedville. :D
It's cheap, simple, works fine, and saves you about $30.

LOL!
There's nothing like hearing people in the same financial situation as me. It warms me! I used to use a pile of books as a mic stand! and kleenex boxes, but now ive graduated to lamp stands!

that reminds me of very early band practice sessions, a broom, five gallon bucket , and some duct tape.
