rock guy
haven't posted any of my stuff in a while, but check out my newest one; it's just a funky lil ditty with a leading bass-funk-line

one of the first recordings with my behringer UCA-222, so i finally have a stereo image for drums! woo! lol

check it out, what do you think? for anyone who was part of my tubescreamer TS9 post in the guitar forum, the left channel distortion guitar is using the boss SD-1 on my JCM2000; as is the solo!

Wow-shades of Kool & the Gang-I love that funk! The lead guitar with the whammy bar parts give a nice updated sound that fits in well. Nothing I heard that didn't sound good....:)

:D thanks guys! you'll notice that at one point, around when the bass goes solo, the reason the drums went (bass bass snare) with no cymbals then stopped all together was because i dropped a stick :X whoops. lol i'm glad i was playing with a metronome because i was able to recover it haha

Cool!
Oh, that bass...marvellous playing and sound. But everything else sits right too.....well done, great tune!

Joey :):):):)

Haha, I like the 1-4-5 breakdown part. It almost sound ska-ish. Nice unexpected touch.

The lead is killing me. Out of place and too loud. It's like having Yngwie play with Madness. Doesn't work. The hats are a little too out front too. The bass is great and the rhythms sound cool. Good work overall.

Definitely very funky! Love the bass & drums. Guitar is full of adrenaline... could be a little more refined. The overall sound is a little "mushy" - I'd like to hear more transient action in something like this... Cool jam though!

Wow! I LOVE that lead! It's smokin', it's metal and it's definitely not a 'funk' lead. I don't like funk leads. Give me some neck pickup, some Crybaby (right at 2:08 would be a great place to change the tone up a bit) - more cowbell!!! jk.
I do agree that the hats are a bit full and i-y-f.

If you played the drums, bass, and guitar than I hate you! (green w/ envy) :p

Great tune/jam! If I could play guitar like you, I'd solo all over this mutha!!

Song moves real well. I liked it a lot. Loved the bass part.

Guitar is just a little too thin for my tastes. But I bet most people like it the way it is.

I can understand the comment about the lead being out of place - metal style in a funk song. But it worked for me. Just my opinion. I agree that it's a bit too loud.

Nice one.

haha thanks guys.

about the solo'ing: yeah you're all right, it doesn't fit....but um, problem with me is when i was 15/16 (aka my biggest years of influence on guitar) i was such a zeppelin fanatic thaaaaaat nowadays i'm stuck inside of a damn jimmy page ripoff box, and i can't get out of it for the life of me. it's the death of me, musically, bc idk howto break it :(

as for how the guitars sound recording wise: i still can't do it perfectly yet...i'm using my Sm57 and e609, but i'm still unable to PERFECTLY capture that marshall stack tone! i'm getting much better, though...but it's still really hard for me to get a sound i'm 100% happy with! however, i must say i DO love my bass tone on that! i mic'ed the 4x15 cab with an SM57 and the e609, and also did an XLR out from my gallien krueger head, then mixed all 3 on the mixer and that's the final bass sound. it's teh G&L L2000 with the neck humbucker on and the tone very low.

also, what do you guys think of the drums? this is the wet version; the dry version there was NO compression on the drums.....i only have a mixdown to one final drum track, despite using 6 mics on the set. i did an auto compress thing in adobe, and it gave it a very fat sound and brought the snare up a bit. at teh beginning when its just bass/drums you can kind of tell it's too compressy, but uncompressed it just didn't sound in your face as much as i'd liked!

**also i didn't mention, but yes i did play all instruments on this..i don't have a band, sadly :(

Wow dude, very sweet stuff!

I agree that the HH/cymbals are a little too overbearing. I also agree that the solo is a bit loud, but I like the screaming solo approach over the funk tune--kinda reminds me of some of the funkier Extreme tunes--Nuno Bettencourt wailed over some funk like nobody's business. Worked for me then and yours works for me too.

Great bass playing and tone too.

Very nice work.

hmmm....so you did play all the instruments and shred guitar like that.....yup, I hate you! And you are only 22 :spank: !!! ...damn kids!!

You play better than I did at 22 (or today) and have better tone sense and musicality. Additionally, why would you want to break out of that Zep box! Put in a friggin' toilet and TV and live in that sucka (maybe call out for pizza and beer :drunk: )!

Keep shredding and sharing with us - and don't forget about us here at HR when you make it big :D
