By RCA do you mean an 1/8" stereo plug? I've never seen any HD280's with an RCA.steve grimm said:I have tried some AKG's and thought the we're nice until I put on the
Sennheiser HD 280 Pro's. The Seinnheiser's block out alot more out side the can sound. You have to take them off, when someone wants to talk to you in the control room. When we record, everybody reaches for the Sennheisers
once they've tried them. I now have 6 pairs. The only problem I have with them is that they have like a RCA plug on the end and you have to use a 1/4 adapter and the adapters breaks, they don't take alot of abuse. I can only find Radio Shack replacements. I'm hoping to find better adapters, before I get pissed off an cut the RCA things and get out my soldier gun.
I don't mean to be a prick, but I know quite a lot about headphones. The HD280 has a lot of lowbass register but lacks some midbass punch. They also lack the sensitivity required to be used with most sound equipment. I don't recommend them at all. They isolate great, but they sound like poo IMHO. Indeed, all closed sennheiser headphones I tried sound like poo.daliscar said:i cant afford the beyerdynamic dt 880s though, the best headphones in the world....
Well said jeffree....cans are exactly like monitors, you have to try and then buy....jeffree said:Opinions about cans always seem to vary a lot, don't they? But the nice thing about buying cans is that they're cheap to ship, making it easy to buy several and compare. I did this myself several years ago with the Sony 7506, Senn 280, and ATH-M40 models. With my studio set-up and my tin ears, the Senns were the easy choice for me in terms of comfort, isolation, and especially sound. The extra few bucks for return postage have been long forgotten. Since personal taste is really such a big part of choosing cans, I recommend trying a few models at home before choosing. It's a measely extra $10 well spent for years of listening satisfaction, at least for me.
