software mixer opposed to behrenger

Hello, I just got Sonar Home Studio and an Aardvark Q10 Interface. I also bought a Behrenger Eurotrack MX1602A Mixer when I bought the other things. The Aardvark comes with a software mixer that has everything I need to send in numerous signals and control playback and mixdown and whatnot. I have yet to actually use the Behrenger while recording but I'm wondering if I should. Other than the fact that having actual sliders to touch(ease of use) as opposed to just clicking a mouse, are there other benefits from an outboard mixer? Will the sound turn out clearer or more powerful? Can I control seperate playback volumes of instruments with the behrenger? Any info or suggestions would be great. Thanks.

What are you using for microphone pre-amps if you're not using the Behringer? Or does the Aardvark have built in pre's?

The aardvark has 4 pre's built in. They sound pretty decent. Do you think the behrenger pre-amps will improve sound quality?
 
i've heard really good things about the aardvark pres, actually. you know, for budget pres.

Not likely. :)

However, the Aardvark has 8 inputs, right? If so the Behringer could provide the preamps for the other 4 inputs, allowing you to record more than 4 inputs at a time.

Yes very true. I havent had a need for more than 4 yet but I suppose I might in the future. I think I'll stick with the aardvark pre-amps and maybe sell the behrenger. I get a feeling the preamps in the aardvark are higher quality. I'm kinda mad though becasue aardvark's are goin for like 300 now on ebay cause the business went under and I paid alot more than that for mine. Anybody else do the same? well thanks for the info guys.
 
I have an Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96. My friend has a Behringer UB series 8 channel mixer.

The Direct Pro has the same amount of noise as the Behringer only when it is adding 60+dB and the Behriner is zeroed.

Yes, I too am pissed off they went under.

I am currently trying to determine whether it would be possible to reverse engineer the driver set and get a group of Aardvark users together to pay for 64-bit driver development.

Or I'll buy a Fireface...
