Yeh charger I agree. Im a huge Rode fan. And its not just because the factory is just up the road from me. Since plugging in my big valve Rode and hearing it through the headphones, it litterally blew me and everone else who hears it away. In fact sometimes I just turn it on and talk check one two bla bla into the headphones just to cheer me up. Pretty corny hu!
And yes now I too have mics that now dont get used because of this. Maybe we could start a thread where we could pass these not so used anymore mics down to newbies as bargans. At least that way they get used.

Also, I don't think that anyone on this site wouldn't want to own a neuman. Any neuman. But I cant even afford the stering wheel off one.
Go the next best. A Rode. and untill then your 4033 will be just fine. But be carefull the 4033 is very fragile. The Rodes are as robust as a sure57. (well almost). Hope you don't think Im a Rode salesman cause Im not. Its funny how neumans and rodes dont get talked about much here. Probly because when you hear one, it talks for itself.

I have a Rode NT2... it co-exists quite peacefully with my 4033 - they are not mutually exclusive. For some applications, the extra top end the NT2 adds is the needed sound, other times, the more smooth and balanced sound of the 4033 is called for.

And other times, the grunge of the Marshall MPX2001 is what's needed....

Bottom-line -- if you have more than 1 mic in your arsenal, you SHOULD be getting *some* use out of it, for variety, and for adding colour and dimension to your mic'd tone.............

Bruce

Yeh Bruce, Ive got this cheap crappy copy of a shure birdcage mic that a friend gave to me. Think its a Korean GM-55. Looks great. Real 60,s Elvis look. Anyway it turns out to be a realy loud mic, not that thats what makes a good mic. I recently used it as a sort of drum room mic by placing it at the oposite corner of the room facing the corner. At a certain point in the song when the band stops and the drums keep going I would cut to this mic only and in mono and it gave the arangement nice contrast. Perfect for that grunge sound.

This mic can be had for about $60.00 US and sounds killer on floor toms (for some reason.)

I have a 4050, which I beleive is basically the same mic as the 4033(??) axcept for an three position soundfield switch. I love it. The only problem I have with the mic itself is that it makes me sound like ME (which usually needs a bit of tweeking:D ) I did manage, however, to break one of the black elastic bands that hold the thing in it's shockmount. Anyone know where to get one(ie. "any music store, you dumb ass")?

As A Note...

Just clarity: The 4050 in cardioid is NOT the same as a 4033; in case anyone might be mistaken to think otherwise.
