I gave it a shot, really. I spent several hours with it. Loyalty issues aside, it aint Sonar by a longshot. Worlds apart. To do complicated stuff like I do would be impossible, its just not advanced. And I am on Sonar 3.:D

Its easy to learn, thats for sure. I appreciate the price point too, and I am all for the simplicity of it. BUt its for a completely different audience than Sonar, which was the grandaddy of all midi sequencers in ye olden days. Reaper is almost anti midi.

Yeah, I can hardly spell MIDDY.

I like cakewalk products.....I use GTP3, I have no need for midi so, it works fine for me.

I don't know what application or hardware nobody uses, but I'm somebody, and I've been using Cakewalk products since it was Twelve Tone Systems...and the product was called Cakewalk, and it was MIDI only...DOS-based...at least v2.1, and I still use Sonar v6...and have always loved it!

for me, the price difference between Reaper and Sonar7pe is about the price of a mediocre guitar. Really not that much when someone might total up the entire costs of their recording stuff.

I've tried Reaper, and I recommend it to those with ziltch funds. However, Sonar TO ME, kicks its' booty, just with the free stuff you get with it alone, not to mention the MIDI editing.

If you're into soft synths, and these "virtual drummers", Reaper aint gonna cut it. However, if you just need a computer tape recorder, Reaper is great.

I just bought a new unregistered version of Sonar 2.2. It cost less than Reaper. ;) I've been using Cakewalk 9 since it was new and Sonar 2 after that. Sonar 2.2 is supposed to be compatible with the card drivers I use.

If you already owned Sonar 2, couldn't you have upgraded to 2.2 for free.
