So how the heck do I turn midi tracks into audio tracks?

Lol I don't know why you guys think I don't have a vsti set up. I obviously do. I stated twice that I have a midi track I want to turn to audio. Let me repeat: I have a midi track programming vstis, in midi, not audio. I want it to be audio.

I get it, read the manual. I didn't respond to the first guy that told me to so why does everybody act like I'm refusing to read the manual. I get it!

It's not obvious and it is the number one mistake people make when using midi. That's why you got asked several times.

If you're using the MS GW synthesizer to play/generate you're MIDI sounds, it's a complete and often impossible task to render your sounds to WAV/MP3 files. It's a MicroSoft thing. Most DAWS only render VSTi and DXi synthesizers. If you want to convert a MIDI file directly to WAV or MP3 (or a host of other audio file formats), without a series of complicated procedures and wirings (which often still don't work), check out "SWITCH" by NCH software. It even does batch conversions. NCH also sells "SOUNDTAP", a program that records anything that you hear coming from your computer (except MS-compliant protected streams), including any MIDI file that you would play from MediaPlayer or any other piece of software.

SynthFont, a (Sahreware?/Freeware?) piece of software, which works stand-alone and as a VSTi, renders GM MIDI files to MP3 but it uses SoundFonts, not the standard MS GW synth sounds.

I work with some musicians and vocalists who have been trying for years to get their GM MIDI files into WAV, CD-DA or MP3 formats. They've gone through excruciating machinations with the MS GW synth and with having to reassign voices to DXi/VSTi softsynths in DAWS. If what you hear from the computer (via MediaPlayer or VanBasco's MIDI Player) is what you want, SWITCH and/or SOUNDTAP are what you want.
