Ok so it's been months now of frustration trying to get my new mixer set up. I finally boguht a new computer, converted it to xp, spent countless hours of why the mixer wouldnt connect properly to the computer and now im finally at a step where i'm beyond lost...

I've always used analog mixers until now, so i'm a near novice whne ti comes to midi/firewire

This i think basically will go out to travis because he's writing a "book" on how to use cubase, but if anyopne can please help me setting up the faders to actually sync with cubase le, id really appreciate it.

Ive spent hours with the manuel and i just cant get it. I have all my devices set up to the fw1082 control [emulated].

I obviously wnat multi-track mxiing with it, other than that, nothing else. Im just trying to mic my drum set and have all 8 mics seperated into 8 different recorded tracks.

thanks so much!

cubase uses a separate midi channel for the transmission of device controll data... click devices/set-up/remote devices... you should see mackie controll correct??? on the right side of that box what do you see??? the 2 black lines??? should read fw1082 controll... if not pull down the menu and look for it... should take care of everything...

yea thatx how i set it up.. :[ i have all my midi utputs/ inputs set up to the 1082 in all the device set ups...

its somehting to do with the latency of it all but idk enough about mutli trackign to figure it all out on my own.

thanks for the help though, if theres anything else you amy know, please tell me

hey man, i never said i was going to write a book. it would likely be crap any way. if there's any way i can help you get going i will though. i'm trying to jog my memory on cubase. it's been so long since i've used it. (reaper baby! :D). i'm having some stuff shipped to me from home (i'm on the road working) and i'll make sure the cubase disc gets put in there. it's not on my laptop. i'll hit you up when my stuff gets in.

1. only the controll in/out should be set to 1082 !!!
2. sorry but make sure we're making the distinction between device set=ups and vst setup just to make sure...
3.it has nothing to do with latency...

yea its only with the vst set up. and ill double check but im almost positive that the control in/out is only set up to 1082.

thanks so much, i really appreciate it. i just recently started using cubase now, so it's even harder for me to figure eveyrhting out because i havent even mastered the program yet lol.

but any help form anyone is greatly appreciated. thanks guys

this is in device set-ups... NOT vst set-ups...

so after being on the phone for almost 4 hours yesterday [again] i think ive come to realize something may be wrong with the mixer...... so im going to get it looked at.

BUT for anyone who didnt know a couple little tricks for setting it up if you didnt know is under the device menu, scroll down to vst in- make sure all are checked, go to vstout, check the one, also go to the start menu, go to the asio multimedia, open it, click advanced options, then make sure all the inputs are checked. And also under the device menu make sure the macie control/default midi/vst inputs are all at tascam 1082 or the control [emulated]

thanks for the help everyone. i appreciate it. its just unfortunate after all these months there might be something wrong with it :-\
