for the deep sound I use this marching snare drum from around the 40's. I redid the drum to be able to use in a drum set. The thing is amazing.

Do you have any pics?

I was looking at an Pearl Articulate freefloater, but I think I'll go with a Maple
6.5 freefloater behind the kit and the Articulate for practice :D

snares

i have a 8x14" tama starclassic g-maple and a 5&1/2"x14" tama starclassic birch snare. the birch one has a 2 inch vent on the side of it and sounds very different from the 8" maple snare. i prefer the maple one over the birch, probably due to its size.

does anyone else have either tama starclassic g-maple snare? i'm curious to find out what other people have to say about the two in comparison to each other. I always wonder how much different the 6" one would have soudned.
