Small stuttering/crackling every ~3 mins?

Hi,

when I'm listening to a mp3 or playing a game the Sound stutters for a moment every ~3 minutes.
I have an M-Audio Delta 1010 on an AMD Athlon XP 2400 [512mb ram] System. Winxp and latest drivers.

What could be the reason for that? Thanks!

Have you tried defraging the hard drive?
Also if you have other processes running in the background (stuff down in the sys tray) they may be accessing the hard drive and effecting the audio stream.
