Hola Newbie here. Happy Thanksgiving!
Well I think I've outgrown my Audigy 2 with breakout box and am ready to move on to something better. I have a fairly small budget so I'm buying used.
Here are my choices..
Aardvark Q10 PCI http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/dec01/articles/aardvarkq10.asp
Delta 10/10 PCI Don't really need a link do we?
I've done a lot of research and found out Aardvark has been out of business for quite some time now and support is limited to sparse online archives. However I also read that the mic pre's in the Aardvark are way superior to anything I could do with the Delta 10/10. I'm also very picky about latency and contrary to what some have said I've had excellent luck with Creative's ASIO drivers running at 4ms with tons of VST's and VSTi's running at once and am hoping I could get similar with the Delta or the Aardvark. I have a fairly robust system and am running XP Home (No internet) w/ SP3 Athlon 64 4600+ Gigabyte M55 SLI board, 3 GB DDR2 dual channel Ram and (2) non raid array Seagate Barracuda 500GB Sata drives. It is a dedicated PC with no extras like antivrus etc etc..
The Aardvark comes with all the latest patches and drivers up to a certain date and the Delta is unused and in a box. Both are the same price. $75.00
I'm pretty set with everything else like MIC's and Mixer and Monitoring. Neither items are returnable as they are both private sales so I want to eliminate (as much as I can) having to buy again too soon due to unsatisfactory results. I use a Line6 X3 for guitar, EZdrummer for drums, and Forte bass VST for bass guitar and sometimes Korg Wavestation VST. I use a Korg K25 MIDI controller to control the drums, bass, and synths.
Like I said earlier I've been very happy with Creative's ASIO drivers as far as latency goes but the sound quality just isn't there for me.
I welcome opinions on which unit I should buy and why?
Thanks
