I have a pretty small control room in the studio im putting together. not sure the exact measurements but i'll post them later. maybe 4' by 8'. i could be a bit off. But anyways, i was thinking about getting yorkville ysm1p's. Would those be alright for a room that small or would it be better to go for something less powerful, smaller and less expensive. or does the room size not matter when dealing with that? thanks for any responses

4' x 8'...you'll die of asphyxiation if somebody farts in that small of a room.

With regard to the monitors, I have no idea how much difference the size will make for you.

I don't think going for really small nearfields would be of any great benefit. I hope you're wrong about that 4'x8' measurment. Twice that space would still be pretty cramped.

Well i dont think its much bigger than that. it's my bands warehouse and when we bought it, it jsut happened to be set up as a studio from the people before. the control room is somewaht small i agree, but its still comfortable for what im going to have in there. so i just gotto make do.

4x8 is the size of a piece of plywood. I don't think you can squeeze a person and any gear into that. My mixing room is 8x8 and it is really tight at that.

As for your monitors, something the size of the Yorkvilles is probably your best bet, but you'll need to have a lot of absorption in there to flatten things out acoustically.

How on earth are you supposed to "educate" young interns in a control room that small? ;)

well, i measured it, it is about 5.5 by 7.5. i guess its pretty small, but i have all my stuff in there and its still comfortable, for me and maybe two other people. i guess it doesn feel as small as it is. whatever
