Zeke,

To make a cheap pop filter: take a coat hanger and make a hoop, about 8" around. Then, beg, borrow, or steal a nylon stocking from a lady you know, or don't know, and pull the stocking over the hoop so it is tight. Use the excess wire to tape the thing to your mic stand and possition it directly in front of the mic.

Start with the cheap easy stuff.

Jason,

You read my mind. I've been meaning to ask that question every since Tom Cram (I believe it was) mentioned I could make one.

I kept forgetting to post it while I was on-line.

I think I saw one advertised with sweetwater for ten bucks. I don't know if it's still there or not. Do the home made ones work pretty good?

Thanks,
Zeke

Position relative to source? I'm not exactly sure what you mean. I was singing directly into it.

er, um, it might sound obvious, but are you sure you were singing into the correct side of the C3000? (you know, the side with the logo...)

Yep Wil,

I was definitely singing into the right side. I took Tom Cram's advice about being too close to the ceiling and that was a dramatic improvement. I put the mic in about the middle of the room and sat in a chair to sing the vocals. Vast improvement.

I'm continually amazed at how sensitive this thing is. Basically if I can here it, the mic picks it up. I live about a mile from an interstate highway, and can faintly here the traffic. It' almost like the mic picks it up and amplifies it. I guess that's what it's supposed to do, thus the preamp. It just amazes me. I put on the headphones and the most minute noise is in my face. Incredible. I can hardly wait to get in a quiet acoustic environment, and get the show on the road.
